Have you had your E2 levels checked? if high this could be the reason

Subject: Has anyone experienced increased anxiety while starting

TRT for the first time?

Received: Wednesday, March 9, 2011, 1:23 AM

Today is my 8th day using 1% Testogel. From day 1 I could feel the effects

of it.

Basically I've had 7 days of increased anxiety, irritability, anger, bad temper,

lack of patience, verbal aggressiveness. Emotionally it's been a roller coaster.

Typically I'm ok in the morning then mid afternoon-evening my anxiety levels

increase.

I was expecting to either not feel anything or to feel an improvement to my

overal wellbeing. I really don't understand why I feel worse.

I have considered splitting the gel and applying half morning and half afternoon

but it's natural to have higher levels in the morning and have declining levels

as the day progresses. It's one of the advantages of gels right?

I'm just wondering if anyone else had experienced negative feelings during the

early days and if anyone has any idea of whether emotionally I will settle down.

On the plus side my labido has increased, erections & orgasms are stronger.

Unfortunately I'm in the Uk and the correct test is not available unless I can

find a private lab.

I can't even get back to my doc until 6th April, fully booked. One of many

benefits of the NHS.

Your going to feel many changes give it time as your levels go up your body

needs to adjust to the new levels. And in some men this is slower then others.

Yes you can try doing the gel 2x's per day.

Retest in 2 weeks to be sure your dose is enough and your Estraidol levels are

not going up to high.

Also read this file I made about starting on gels.

==================================================

Starting on Androgel or Testim.

Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain

sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops

sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were

making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel

your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel.

Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is

what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150.

The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the

first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and

you fall back.

Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you

need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far

as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread

it over the area but don't rub it in.

The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If

you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams

don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots.

I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up

feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5

grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the

use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen

and test them again in 2 weeks.

When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then

put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you

can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on

the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later.

Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell

back.

I had read what you said about T levels dropping once natural T production has

slowed down, but as I haven't yet had much of an increase judging by how I feel

I hadn't considered that an issue yet.

The more I think about it I should expect to feel off while my body adjusts to

what is a major biological change.

I explained how I felt to my partner who said that is how she felt when she was

experimenting with different contraceptive pills years ago. Which of course are

hormones.

All I can do is keep managing the symptoms and hope that I will see some

improvement or at least some mood stabilizing. Unfortunately it's worked out bad

timing as I am going on holiday in 2 days for a week. Fingers crossed I don't

feel like crap all week.

Cheers

Mark,

Did you have your Estradiol levels checked before you started on TRT is not it

can be this going up. When your levels go up you can get sore and hard nipples

feel anzithy even Panic feeling and your wood will get weak not as hard or last

as long as normal.

What you can do is get some Zinc with copper take 50 mgs 2x's / day for 4 weeks

then do 1x's per day.

See if you can buy this at a Heath Food Store.

This might help faster until you can do labs.

You can control bad tempers and anger. Easy to blame a drug for the actions we

cause while under its influence... I wouldn't divide the TRT, and if you are

having so much emotional problems perhaps a psychological evaluation is needed.

Has anyone experienced increased anxiety while starting

TRT for the first time?

UU this is the first time in yrs I have been a mod and felt like kicking someone

off this forum. Don't go behind me like that the men feel like this and don't

need to. It's about how your doing things not about will power.

That's quite a statement to make. Controlling moods is easy regardless of what's

biochemically going on in your body?

So you have always had control of your moods? Never snapped at anyone? Never had

a fight or arguement under the influence of alcohol (or anything else)?

Why would a short period of (out of character) anger/bad temper when making such

major chemical adjustment in your body warrant a psychological evaluation?

Everyone is in entitled to an opinion. As a counselor, if someone came to me and

said he / she was feeling anxiety, I would try to help that person find out why.

I see no where that I gave poor advice. Point it out to me and ill see if I need

to change that aspect. If you feel by asking someone dealing with some kind of

psychological distress that talking to a professional can help is wrong, please

say this and never again try to insult me.

Look I am not trying to insult you I was just shocked at your reply to this men

that is suffer from a Side Effect and your more or less telling him it's in his

head. Not a good thing to say to men here they get this enough from Dr.'s they

see that don't know about Low T.

But what really angered me is your telling him not to try something that I told

him to try that works.

When men have this problems on TRT it not about will power and it's not

psychological distress.

Have you been on TRT I don't think so your trying HCG by it's self. How do you

get off telling some one to not do something and use there will saying it's

psychological distress.

Men come hear for help don't need to hear this crap. It's not psychological

distress it's Hormones.

Men go to there Dr. sick with low T and they tell them it's all in there heads

and put them on Prozac. They suffer for yrs listening to this crap and don't

need to hear it here.

Phil, you have to be careful when saying a symptom is from one thing, where it

may be from another. I can't tell someone TRT causes emotional problems w/o

taking other factors into consideration. TRT causes side effects but we are not

docs! No one here should say one thing is from TRT while it can stem from

another. That's it and I meant no disrespect, however I am not reading posts

that makes me feel like I am toxic.

No one has to apologize! TRT affects every man differently. I didn't receive

emotional distress from TRT and so didn't other men. Yet some men did. You

specifically said you are dealing with emotional problems, yet why is it an

outcry that I advised seeing a psychologist? God come on. No one in here is an

Endocrine doc, someone in pain advise that person to see a professional so his

symptoms and not low T, etc can me treated ASAP. Regulating your hormones isn't

a direct science and it varies in all of us. Its complex and also rewarding when

you feel better. For some men they may not reach levels they want or will reach

them. Until this occurs treat any unbalancing SYMPTOMS with a trained

professional! I am not going to defend this again. Life is too short to have my

words taken incorrectly and ill simply leave.
