Guest guest
I had acid reflux issues for the last few years. I was always told a had a hiatus hernia. About 7 years ago I had H pylori and it took three different sessions of triple therapy over 2 years to get rid of it because it kept coming back. After that I had acid reflux issues quite often and started using proton pump inhibitors until I discovered that ED meds didn't work when I was on them. I was in a catch 22 situation. I resolved to find a way to get off the PPIs. The first thing I did was eliminate a lot of fat in my diet that attracted acid. I steamed large quantities of vegetables like carrots and beets, put them in the fridge and ate them whenever I was hungry. I ate small amount of meat with it to make sure I got enough protein. The next thing was not to eat 3 hours before bedtime. I was part way there but it still wasn't enough. I started reading about Turmeric and how it is a traditional medicine for digestive issues. There are East Indian food stores around here and I can buy Turmeric for 2 dollars a pound. I started putting it in 000 size capsules and took 8 throughout the day every day. Now I just put a heaping teaspoonful in milk and drink it twice a day. My acid reflux started to improve. Not only that, my digestive system in general started to settle down. After a number of months I stopped the turmeric and I still don't have any acid reflux although I am still careful about fat quantities and eating before bed. I can't believe this has worked and I still don't believe its gone forever but it certainly has been gone for the past month and I haven't taken any Turmeric all that time. If it comes back I will use turmeric again. Anything to stay off those evil PPI's. I don't know if this would work for everyone but it is sure helped me. It is very inexpensive, easy to do and very low risk. BTW Turmeric is also a general anti-inflammatory although I thing you would need to take a tablespoon a day over a long time to get that effect. There is also a supplement (Curcumin) I haven't tried it. > > Hey Group, > > I am currently suffering from chronic acid reflux (GERD) and the HC I'm > taking makes it worse. Guest guest
I only had acid reflux when my thyroid was too low. Are you able to raise that? > > Hey Group, > > I am currently suffering from chronic acid reflux (GERD) and the HC I'm > taking makes it worse. Guest guest
Mike I went on HC and never had this problem but I do know you need to take HC with food. I take my morning dose 10 mgs without food at 5 am I still wake at this time and I am retired. I then do my shots and go back to bed so when I wake I feel better. I started having Acid Reflux and Heart burn and did all them things no help. I then told my Dr. I read this can be my Heart they tested it and it was my heart get checked out. Guest guest
Phil,.....how can a heart problem cause acid reflux? I understand how angina and such could be mistaken for heartburn, but GERD is a lot different than simple heartburn. I have struggled with GERD for years, and so far my heart has been fine. I'm talking about the kind of reflux where you literally burp acid into your mouth when lying down. Unfortunately I have to take PPI's on and off almost in a continuous cycle to be able to get any sleep.
Guest guest
I had this for a yrs we were thinking it was my Iron pills when nothing worked we checked my Heart doing a stress test they put me on a treadmill the shot die in me and took pictures. Not much showed up but they could see I had a problem. So we did a 24 bit scan and this show 2 blockages going into my heart and the 3rd. one that was feeding my heard was under developed from birth. My blockages were 99% blocked Dr.'s did not know how I was living. Later talking to my Heart Dr. he said it was something to do with the loss of blood fow.
