True: HDL (good cholesterol) will decrease, and LDL (bad cholesterol) will

increase.

I don't know the " why " , but it is nearly universally observed. Non-hypogonadic

men are at a higher risk for heart problems. HRT just puts you back where you

would have been before becoming hypogonadic.

Of course, with HRT, you can exercise more, lose weight and live

an improved lifestyle, which can improve cholesterol levels, particularly

increasing HDL.

To take the best advantage of HRT, you should use the extra energy and

healthfulness to exercise, lose weight and become stronger. It's all easier with

the " wind at your back " , but that's not the time to just " coast " along without

making an effort to increase physical fitness.

Dr. no says testosterone can reduce thyroid releasing hormone (TRH)

produced by the testes. Since thyroid has an inverse relationship to

cholesterol, then it makes sense that cholesterol might rise.

Randy, I think you meant hypogonadic men are at higher risk for heart problems?

Dr. M is great he knows more about hormones then most Dr.'s Endo's and all. I

have been reading his posts at forums for yrs. I learned so much from doing

this and doing helped me to figure out what was wrong with me. You can read a

lot of his posts in the Files section at the home page one of the guys copyed

most of them and put them in a zip file. Once you start reading you can't stop.
