Guest guest
this wont be of any help but, I get the random flashes of light in my upper right eye, peripheral I would say, totally random and annoying, I mentioned it to a consultant and he had no input, nor my GP, I don't get the blind spots though, or not yet anyway, cheers Tim. Guest guest
Doing a search not much until I found what your seeing. A cut and Paste. =================================================================== You may sometimes see small specks or clouds moving in your field of vision. They are called floaters. You can often see them when looking at a plain background, like a blank wall or blue sky. Floaters are actually tiny clumps of gel or cells inside the vitreous, the clear jelly-like fluid that fills the inside of your eye. Floaters may look like specks, strands, webs or other shapes. Actually, what you are seeing are the shadows of floaters cast on the retina, the light-sensitive part of the eye. > > > > > > > > > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > I've recently began getting blind spots in my vision. > > It is accompanied by > > > a > > > bizzare flashing lights in the upper quadrant of my > > left eye. Guest guest
Mike, go see a good eye doctor about this. It could be a detached retina,......maybe nothing serious, but you need to be sure.
Guest guest
Mike, have you been taking HC? A side effect experienced by 8% of the population is glaucoma, which is serious, so you should definitely see an eye doctor any time your vision is involved. Guest guest
A pituitary tumor can interfere with your optic nerve as well causing visual disturbances. Personally I would start with an eye doc and fast.
Guest guest
Phil,.....floaters don't cause 'blind spots' or flashing lights. His symptoms are much like a detached retina, aor something impinging upon the optic nerve. I have floaters from time to time, and I do not get blind spots or flashing lights in my vision. My fiancee claims to see flashes in her vision when she is having a migrane, but has never mentioned blind spots.
Guest guest
Get to the ER, immediately. I've had a detached retina, and it is very serious.  A blind spot, especially coming at the edge of your vision, is definitely a detached retina. If it is in the middle of your vision, I wouldn't swear that it is what it is, but DO NOT SCREW AROUND> ________________________________ From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> Sent: Fri, July 2, 2010 2:42:37 PM Subject: Re: Blind Spots in vision  Phil,.....floaters don't cause 'blind spots' or flashing lights. Guest guest
I can only tell you from my own experience. I had flashing in a corner or my eye that almost seemed cartoonish. An eye doctor told me it might be the result of whats called an ocular migraine. However, I have also had problems with an elevated red blood count, and distorted vision can be a side effect. There are a lot of possible reasons for what you are describing. ________________________________ From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...> NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS ; NTHA-Chat ; Sent: Fri, 2 July, 2010 12:37:56 Subject: Blind Spots in vision  Hey Group, I've recently began getting blind spots in my vision. It is accompanied by a bizzare flashing lights in the upper quadrant of my left eye. It usually goes away within an hour and there is no pattern to its onset. Has anyone else experience this? Thanks, -- Mike
