Guest guest
7 keto may stimnlate ones thyroid too much because it has been shown to increase t3 in rats. The result of this would be excessive stress to adrenals if your cortisol levels are not able to handle the extra metabolism from the thyroid. There is not much known about 7 keto or what pathways it may affect with in the body. if you get adverse reaction examine what else was added in at the same time to rule out the specfic variable. > > Hey Group, > > I just got back from my doctor's office. Guest guest
Interesting you should mention the T3 thing because it feels like I've taken too much T3. Does regular DHEA do this? Guest guest
IF 7-keto increases T3 in human adults, then it could also reduce stress on the adrenals by opposing rT3. Please note the upper case " IF " . Be well! Guest guest
MIKE- 7-keto DHEA is NOT a substitute for DHEA. I find few men convert oral 25mg BID DHEA to estrogen to any extent. You need DHEA. TRT lowers DHEA. Be well! Guest guest
Thanks Dr. Crisler for you input. I actually had to stop taking cytomel a week ago because my adrenals are not well and the T3 in the cytomel was stressing them out even further. I started taking it because I have a RT3 problem confirmed by a blood test. So, looks like I'll have to give up on the 7 keto until I can get my adrenals more stabilized. I'll go back on the DHEA and use zinc and DIM to halt any conversion to estrogen (possibly armidex if it comes to that). Thanks again, Mike On Tue, May 18, 2010 at 6:36 PM, Crisler, DO <drjohn@...>wrote: > > > MIKE- > > 7-keto DHEA is NOT a substitute for DHEA. > > I find few men convert oral 25mg BID DHEA to estrogen to any extent. > > You need DHEA. Guest guest
I know Dr. replied to this but I was on 7 Keto for low DHEA and it did nothing for my levels and I felt nothing on it. If your high on E's post your labs here so we know what your Problem is. Most men that take DHEA will convert it into Estradiol if they are not in need of it or on to much. Best dose is 25 mgs x's a day at the most. Guest guest
My thinking is if you take something and feel like this stop taking it and call your Dr. Co-Moderator Phil > > > > > > > 7 keto may stimnlate ones thyroid too much because it > has been shown to > > increase t3 in rats. Guest guest
Dhea can in some people stimulate the D1 enzyme that converts t4 to t3 at a faster rate. So techincally it may affect thyroid function absolutely. By balancing cortisol/dhea one can potentially manipulate the thyroid levels very easily. > > > > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > I just got back from my doctor's office. Guest guest
" By balancing cortisol/dhea one can potentially manipulate the thyroid levels very easily " What do you mean by that? Be well! Guest guest
Will add my two cents to this thread, My husband has been trying to supplement DHEA and has had the hardest time increasing his dose past 10 mg...he becomes very moody and irritable. It has happened twice so we are certain it was the DHEA. In interesting note we discovered was that DHEA will drive cortisol levels lower if your adrenals are already stressed or your cortisol levels are low. He had been convinced that he no longer needed his HC and had cut his dose down to 7.5-10 mg a day because every time he took it he would get a headache/pressure....well a quick question and search through the archives at the adrenal group turned out a few others that had also experienced the negetive feedback loop from the HPA-axis. So we are back to getting his adrenals supported before he tries to add the DHEA back in... his level which was only 59 is now 130 on about 15 mg for 12 weeks.... whew this is hard work... Guest guest
How much HC was he on a day I do 30 mgs a day my Dr. has me take my morning dose 10mgs then I do my labs testing Cortisol at 8am as long as I get a level I know I am not shut down. My last test my level was 15 so this tells my Dr. I am not on to much HC. I had this problem with the headache/pressure and feeling weak and shaky turns out I need more HC not less. I started at 20 mgs this would start happening and I would end up in the ER turns out I was not on enough HC to support my Adreals and body.
