Guest guest
You have room to raise your thyroid dose some, and given that your total T went up last time you did that, that might be all you need. Most people feel best with FT3 at mid-range or higher, and that would be 3.7+ in your range. You cannot use the TSH to determine your dose once on any med with T3 in it, like Nature-throid. TSH comes from the pituitary and the pituitary senses the T3 in your blood from the med, so goes lower. It does NOT mean you're hyper. Your doc should be able to tell from looking at you and checking your pulse, BP, etc. that you're not hyper. Try raising 1/4 or 1/2 grain. Your LDL might drop as a result too. I say at 70 you've earned the right to your ice cream. Guest guest
Your doing great don't change anything TSH is not any good for treatment of Thyroid it is the message from your brain that tells it if you need more of the hormone. So when you go on Thyroid NTH med TSH will go down don't take your Thyroid meds the morning of your labs do your labs first then take your Thyroid meds. Guest guest
Thanks for all the replies. I don't think I am hyperthyroid even though the doctor does. My morning temperature is between 96 and 97, my resting heart rate is 49 to 53, and blood pressure is 90/40 to 115/60. Still maybe a little hypo. I am still curious about the low free testosterone and whether it has any significance? I just recently tried Levitra. It does help with firmness and lasting ability. It does have the side effect of flushing which will be good for me this winter with my Raynaud's. My finger temperature is rarely 5 degrees above room temperature, the Levitra warms them up to body temperature. I tried the Cialis at 2.5 mg. per day. After a week I had a bad stuffy nose and sore throat. I will try again to see if the Cialis or if I caught a bug. After my samples run out I will try ADC. > > > From: rayr_us <ray89012@...> > > Subject: Low free T What does it mean? > > > > Date: Thursday, September 2, 2010, 8:40 PM > > Results of recent blood test shows > > > > testosterone 416 (240-950) > > Free T 9.2 (9-30) > > > > the ratio shows %free T as 2.2% well with in normal. > > Based on those results the doctor ordered: > > > > ESTR 21.2 (<20-47) > > DHEA 68.1 (25-131) > > E-1 24 (10-60) > > E-2 18 (10-40) > > SHGB 32 (10-60) > > > > These all seem like nicely mid range. > > > > I am 70 YO male with no particular low T symptoms except > > maybe mild ED that may be age related. Guest guest
Your thyroid is low. TSH is only a measure of pituitary output and may not reflect your thyroid at all. When you take thyroid medications such as desicated thyroid your tsh will be low. > > Results of recent blood test shows > > testosterone 416 (240-950) > Free T 9.2 (9-30) > > the ratio shows %free T as 2.2% well with in normal.
