Guest guest
Hi Nigel How was the zinc deficiency diagnosed? Was it a serum zinc or red cell zinc or something else? I just had my Dr order both of these tests for me along with magnesium and pottassium (serum and RC) So iI will beinterested to know. I dont suspect a deficiency as all previous serum zinc znd 1 rc zinc were in range. I also supp between 30 to 76 mg zinc daily and have done for years. My estradiol is high which is what I am working on with DIM and Super MiraForte so I will know if there has been any lowering of e2 after this raft of blood tests next week. Kind regards Wayne > > In working on my apparent severe zinc deficiency I've noticed some positive > results. I wake up feeling refreshed, I sleep better and I need less > Arimidex. Guest guest
I don't have to tell you be careful to much Zinc is not good and well lower your Copper levels. The most I ever took was 50mgs/2mgs Copper. All I take today is what is in my Multi and the ZMA I take at bed time. It is very hard to test Zinc every time I do labs and ask for it. The labs says it only tests it on certain days. I just felt if I am not take to much of it more then 50 mgs / day it's OK. Guest guest
I have been on 30 mg zinc citrate for 18 months. I have seen My Copper decrease. I have tested copper in serum and rbc. Both are kinda low. This is possibly why i have had bad iron absorption in the past 18 months. T. Guest guest
For me we still don't know why my Ferritin and Iron levels were below normal levels. I did test low for B-12 and Folic Acid. I tested low for Folic Acid and read some people don't convert the supplement into folate. I was on Folic Acid when I tested low so I started on Thorne Research - Folacal with B-12. So I take B-12 (Brain) Methylcobalamin, 5000 mcg-lozenges every Wed. and Sun. Still we don't know if this worked because I end up having Heart Bypass Surgery and have to be opened up 5x's lost a lot of blood. I was told at my age it can take 2 to 3 yrs to rebuild my blood with all my health Problems. So I have been on Iron pills for over 5 yrs. now. My last to sets of labs my Ferritin was up 250 on last test 300 on the one before it. It is said if you have a Thyroid Problem you can end up with low Ferritin and Iron levels. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ Co-Moderator Phil > > > From: Nigel <nachonigel@...> > > Subject: Why don't more try zinc? > > > > Date: Monday, January 24, 2011, 10:11 PM > > In working on my apparent severe zinc > > deficiency I've noticed some positive > > results. Guest guest
Phil, I take cyano-cobalamine. Take the shots because I don't absorb anything via stomach. I assume your methyl is a tablet? Guest guest
Hi Phil I understand about the B 12 and the folate but isnt the ferritin at 330 over the 280 top of range far too high? Everything I have read starts to talk either about inflammation, haemochromotosis, theory of overmineralisation etc. I thought the desired level for men was around 110-120. Here is a link to an interesting article http://www.longevinex.com/articles/a-unifying-theory-of-aging-part1/ Kind regards Wayne > > > > > > > From: Nigel <nachonigel@...> > > > > Subject: Why don't more try zinc? > > > > > > > > Date: Monday, January 24, 2011, 10:11 PM > > > > In working on my apparent severe zinc > > > > deficiency I've noticed some positive > > > > results. Guest guest
Wayne, I all started when I tired Preg. cream my Ferritin levels shot up into the 300's from 126 top of range on my labs is 380. Yesterday seeing my Dr. my Preg. levels are over the top of the range 262 top of range is 208. The thing is I was not one the Preg. cream for 8 weeks I was on Prog. cream. Quest did not do the test ordered for Prog. So I have no Idea where this is I am betting it's very high. I am having big problems with Estradiol being to high I take meds to keep it down but now they don't last the day. My Iron levels are about the same as when my Ferritin was 126. Iron and Total Iron Binding Capacity 118 top of range 170 mcg/dL. Iron Binding Capacity 326 top of range 425 mcg/dL. % Saturation 36 top of range 50% I am needing way to much meds to keep my Estradiol levels down not that I tired pregnenolone & or progesterone cream. My Dr. told me stop using them and I have 3 weeks ago when I did my labs. So we are not making any changes to my Iron pills dose until my next set of labs in 8 weeks. My hope of using pregnenolone cream was that it would bring my Cortiosl levels up higher and slow down the converson of my Testosterone meds into Estradiol. My Cortisol Total went way up it's 18.7 from 12.2 mcg/dL. But it also drove up my Estadiol levels. Guest guest
Wayne, I originally had low levels per a hair analysis. The rest has been based on symptoms and how I can hardly taste the zinc tablets sometimes. I'm just wondering why more don't investigate a zinc deficiency since it impacts both testosterone and estradiol negatively when deficient. Yes, zinc blocks copper from absorbing from your supplements or food. However, I've had too much copper for a while! -Nigel On 25 January 2011 07:36, gcaussieman <gcaussieman@...> wrote: > > > Hi Nigel > How was the zinc deficiency diagnosed?
