Guest guest
I would be one happy camper if I could just enjoy a nice intimate time with my partner. I have suffered from ED problems for several years now. I am a 61 yr old guy with aids. They say its a side affect from taking my hiv meds for so long. I am a long term survivor, 20+ yrs now. I am not sure the quantity of life is worth it without the quality. I miss the physical part of the relationship. I have tried viagra, cialis and levitra. but none of them seem to help much. I would like to find a doctor that might introduce me to the injections. Bob In a message dated 7/28/2010 12:45:41 P.M. So my Dr. gave me Cialis 20 mgs told me to take it every 3 days doing this got me past the worry and helped to keep my BP down. After about a week on this the sides were gone. I have been on Cialis from the day it came out today my Heart Dr. has me on it everyday 5mgs for my heart. I know men that need to use the shot to get it up they say it's nothing and works great but I don't need this. If he feels ok on the gel all he needs to do is check his estradiol levels and keep them down using Arimidex. Guest guest
Hey Phil -- I am on testosterone injections now. Have been for some time because my testosterone was low. You are right, it is because of the meds. But that doesn't seem to help with the ED problem. I think I am horny, but just can perform! Bob In a message dated 7/28/2010 1:26:18 P.M. Guest guest
Hi PatiA, I don't feel the Androgel is working 12 pumps I think is 15 grams this is 5 over what the drug Co. says you can use. I tried doing this much and it just drove my Estradiol and DHT levels way up. Some men can't use gels it dose not get through the skin. Yes his testosterone levels are up but at what cost. I would look into switching to shots starting with 100 mgs every week have his Dr. show him how to do them his self into his thigh. And add in some HCG do 250 IU's the 2 days each just before his next T shot. Doing this will keep his Testis working help his sex life and keep him leveled. Read about it at Dr. 's site www.allthingsmale.com read TRT: A Recipe for Success and his HCG Update he puts this out there free for you and your Dr. He SHBG is very high is he on any kind of Thyroid med T3 only. This is why his Free Testosterone is so low it's all bound up with his high SHBG. Getting his Estradiol levels down will help to bring down his SHBG. He needs his Estradiol down to about 20 pg/ml. I would not use .5 mgs 2x's a week I would do .25 mgs every 2 days. When his levels come down he should get some strong night time and morning involuntary nocturnal erections that appear during REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep. I call this wood for short when this happens he is at his best levels keep taking that dose of Arimidex. But if his wood stops this means he is going to low now he needs to stop the Arimidex until the wood comes back in about a few days. Then that day go back on the Arimidex but do ..25 mgs every 3 days. If he goes low again do the same thing then do every 4 days. His DHEA is very low some men feel better taking DHEA or try Pregnenolone Cream Dr. at www.allthingsmale.com has all his men on this kind of cream. It is at the top of the hormone tree and converts down to other hormones that are low like DHEA. http://www.vitaminusa.com/prbocr2ozbyl.html Also he can try taking a 25 mgs pill everyday. In men to much DHEA will convert into Estradiol but he is very low I don't see this happening. In women that are low on Testosterone taking a lower dose of DHEA can convert into Testosterone. I have been told I had apnea and my wife she got the cpap machine and it drove her nuts. After seeing what she went through trying to use this I would never try it. When I had Heart Bypass surgery they kept putting this dam machine on me and I would end up ripping it off my face. My wife lost 40 lbs and her apnea stopped. I put a tennis ball in my T shirt so I will not sleep on my back and I ware a noise strip. When I was in the hosp. this sleep Dr. came in the room and told every new person in the room they have apnea and need a cpap machine. After seeing this Dr. doing this to everyone on the floor I question what Sleep Dr.'s tell people. There is new in office surgery they do now for this problem. This link is an old one I am sure they came a long way from the time I found this link. http://www.restoremedical.com/pillar-procedure/ Here are some links you can read from the links and files section we have from the home page learn about this problem with low T so you know what to tell your Dr. and you know your Dr. is doing right by you. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 http://www.griffinmedical.com/male_hormone_modulation_therapy.html http://www.lef.org/magazine/mag2008/nov2008_Dangers-of-Excess-Estrogen-in-the-Ag\ ing-Male_01.htm Here is a link to a hormone tree that Dr. made. http://tinyurl.com/2dz8ufs Co-Moderator Phil > From: PatiA <patianderson3@...> > Subject: husband's labs > > Date: Wednesday, July 28, 2010, 9:14 AM > My husband is using androgel 12 pumps > daily ( 1/2 morning and the other half at night) He is > applying it to his upper arms and back as far down as he can > reach. Guest guest
Thanks for all the great links Phil. He does take Thyroid S, 3 grains. The dr. ran Free T4 - 0.75 range 0.84 - 2.26, Free T3 3.33 range 2.50 - 4.30. To his credit, he said that TSH is not a good measure of Thyroid function. I have talked to my husband til I am blue in the face about injections. He wants no part of them. I'm thinking that he might just change his mind after the doctor told him that there were penile injections that would produce an erection - makes me cringe and I don't even have a penis. Guest guest
Pati, you made me laugh with your last comment--agreed! I did want to mention a couple of things. It looks like he could use more thyroid based on his labs. FT4 should be about mid-range and looks like he's below. FT3 should also be about 2/3 of range or higher, so maybe just a slight increase in dosage. With his below range FT4 but mid-range FT3, he might even be a good converter that could use more T4. Has his cortisol been tested? or rT3? Sleep apnea is a hypo symptom. DH went to injections for several reasons and would not go back to the cream. He can now sleep in later instead of having to apply all the cream and waiting for it to dry. When it was winter and cold, that was a real plus. I also give him the shots in his butt, so he doesn't have to worry about it. I tried to teach him how to do it in his thigh, but he just freaked out and was so drained afterwards. Probably burned up any adrenal reserve he had! If you use a 25G or higher needle, the pain is minimal, and sometimes he doesn't even feel it. Estrone is another estrogen, E1. Estradiol is E2 and Estriol is E3. The creams supposedly convert to E more than the shots, so that would be another reason to switch. His total and free T are still on the low side, so adding more cream would probably just make more E. Guest guest
If you have good levels of Total and Free testosteone with lower levels of Estradiol it might be your meds giving you ED problems there is a shot you can do into your penis that will give you wood for a few hrs. It's called Trimix go to the files section at this link and read about it.
