Guest guest
From the other thread, these were my latest thyroid panel results again: TSH - 1.01 T4 Total - 8.1 T4 Free - 1.2 (same as always) T3 Free - 3.6 T3 Total - 105 RT3 - 22 If I was trying to make things as perfect as they could possibly be in the thyroid area, what would you recommend for me to take to reach that goal? My doc is very open minded on most things, and I would like to be able to present him with a question or two when I see him next week about my Clomid Stim results. I do not want to take straight T3, as my body does not seem to like it. You mentioned that I had room for improvement on the T4 front, so I was wondering if I could take something in that area that would also bring up my T3 through conversion. I assume it would be a VERY low dose. Thanks for any suggestions.
Guest guest
If these are your natural labs with NO meds, then you'd be opening a can or worms to replace it with meds. As you can tell by reading posts here, it is VERY difficult to get any hormone optimized. That said, I have seen people take just 25 mcg, and it must augment their own levels and not suppress it, cause there's no way 25 mcg could be enough for anyone. You could try that for a few days, and if you feel badly, like you did on the T3, just stop it. Every question I asked you previously was to determine if you were high or low cortisol, and all your answers, plus your current temps indicate you've got enough thyroid. So I don't know if the " if it ain't broke, don't fix it " applies here. See what your doc thinks. Guest guest
I guess I just keep thinking I am 'slightly' hypo,...maybe it's just my lousy T levels though, and I should leave well enough alone. I also can't figure out what caused my thyroid results to change so much without any meds. Granted my initial panel was not 'bad' per se, but there were changes that I have no answer for. I also can't figure out why my oral temp is running ever so slightly low for me in the afternoon. It always used to be a tad high. I used to get sick of the GP docs nurse asking me if I felt sick due to my temp being 99 or 99.2,......I figured that was normal for me. Now I usually get 98.3 or so. I realize that is totally normal, but it isn't normal for me per se. Also have seen a few AM basal's of 97.3 which is a tad low right? When you mentioned 25mcgs, exactly what are you talking about? Keep in mind I know nothing about thyroid meds, and need ALL the details! LOL I just figured I would ask him about it while I was there. > > If these are your natural labs with NO meds, then you'd be opening a can or worms to replace it with meds. Guest guest
Did they ever run the Graves' antibodies of TSI and TRab/TBII? Sometimes with Graves' you can having stimulating antibodies (makes you slightly hyper and warm) which then move over to become blocking antibodies (making you colder and hypo). Hypo Graves' is pretty much unknown by doctors, but it does exist! You did change a lot of things healthwise like stopping the snuff and drinking, so that had to improve your liver and conversion. You also took T3 just for a little while, and theory is that displaces any rT3 from the receptors. I believe you also started some supplements that could help. Accepted healthy basal temp is 97.8-98.2 If you want to try T4 meds, 25 mcg is the lowest dose that it comes in. It's called levothyroxine as a generic, and you don't want Synthroid brand. People seem to like Tirosint and Levoxyl. Barb > > > > If these are your natural labs with NO meds, then you'd be opening a can or worms to replace it with meds. Guest guest
I am pretty certain you told me the doc only ran the 'hypo' type AB's but I pulled out my tests. Thyroglobulin AB - <20 (<20 IU/mL) Thyroid Peroxidase AB - <10 (<35 IU/mL) Anyway, as we have discussed here for quite some time now, I seem to have certain hypo symptoms but also hyper ones as well. I would have always bet money I was hyper, but all tests to date do not indicate that in the least. I have never heard ANYTHING about hypo Graves BTW! Sounds like that might be worth bringing up, but then again he will probably say I have no signs of being hyper (test-wise). My biological father was hyperthyroid BTW, and I have hypo folks on the maternal side of the family. Potential double whammy! ) > > Did they ever run the Graves' antibodies of TSI and TRab/TBII? Guest guest
Also Barb,.....I did not forget about what you initially thought my problem was. That being a bit hypo but compensated through adrenals which can cause the hyper symptoms. That made a lot of sense to me, but according to labs that isn't the case. Things are pretty good on my last tests, and I still have the same symptoms. It really would be something if your latest suggestion turned out to be correct. I actually hope my symptoms have nothing to do with my thyroid to be honest.
