Guest guest
I've heard you get a good amount of vitamin D formed on your skin from sunshine. I know 30 minutes outside in the Texas sunshine makes me feel like I took at least a couple vitamin D pills. : ) But Mercola thinks you can wash it off with soap if you don't let it absorb over the next day (it's said to take some time to absorb). I thought that was interesting as it is a fat-soluble vitamin, or prohormone, if you will. He says to only wash your (most likely non sun exposed) groin and armpits with soap. That way your friends don't run away from you and you have a chance at absorbing D. Some also think hypo skin blocks D absorption. Either way, it's interesting that some with plenty of sunshine are D deficient. You can totally overdose on vitamin D! Over time on way too much your serum 25 OH will go higher and higher. You'll deplete vitamin K and A and the body is likely to shut off PTH to try to lower calcium and then at some point toxicity symptoms, which are essentially hypercalemia, will occur. -Nigel On 28 March 2011 08:34, philip georgian <pmgamer18@...> wrote: > > > From what I see in this link you can't OD on Vit D. > http://www.uvadvantage.org/portals/0/pres/ > Co-Moderator > Phil > > > > > From: marc200134470 <cfs38@...> > > Subject: Re: vitamin recomendations > > > > Date: Sunday, March 27, 2011, 1:00 PM > > > 5000 IU's of Vitamin D in the D3 form > > is totally fine.
