When I was in high school, I went through a bout with dandruff. The

shapoo's available over the counter didn't help. I tries " seabreeze " .

It's a facial cleanser (liquid). I would put some on a cotton ball

and dab the cotton ball on where the dandruff was the worst (usually

my hairline above my forehead and the top of my head). Be careful not

to get it in eyes. It tingles ALOT and feels wrms, kinda like

metholatum does under your nose. It worked great for me. I hope this

helps!!!!

Hi,

My name is Terry--I am Louise's son. The best thing I know of is Selsun

Blue Shampoo, the medicated with the red cap. Rub it in wet and then sit

with a shower cap on for one half hour and then shower--I use the little

plastic bags in the produce section of markets to pull over my head.

Do this every other day for 3 days and then make sure you use it in the

shower at least every 5 days. Should do the job for you.

You're probably right on - if the hair (scalp) is oily, it's more likely to

cause dandruff. The best way to control it is frequent shampooing and

making sure that she rinses really well.

Also, found this on the web:

DANDRUFF TREATMENT: Pour apple cider vinegar on the scalp, massage, let dry

for a few minutes then wash as normal. Repeat this process every day until

dandruff disappears (usually within a week).

Can anyone recommend an e.o. treatment for dandruff? My 11 year old

daughter is hitting puberty hard, and her hair is becoming oily and her

scalp is flakey. I don't know if it is actually dandruff, or just from her

hormones. Thanks for all your help!

Actually either oily or a dry scalp can have dandruff but the dry scalp is

what flakes off and what is noticed.

Hi Leanna,

Tea Tree is a good one for dandruff. I don't know how much you would put in I

have always bought the Tea Tree shampoo. Maybe someone else can help you on this

one.

You can add a few drops of tea tree oil to her shampoo or find a shampoo at

the health food store with tea tree oil in it. It works great on dandruff.

I had my scalp burned by a perm about 13 years ago and I've had

problems with it being flakey in the burned area. I've used the

asprine recipe that's in the library. I added some tea tree oil and

a touch of peppermint EO. Anytime I use it I have no flakes.

My 2 cents

Thanks Dawn, Nan, Kay and Sharon, for the help with the dandruff

problem. I checked the aspinin recipe out and would like to know what does

the asperine actually do to help with the dandruff. Anyone know? Have a

great day.

After picking up 3 different amoeba's from third world travels and

drinking raw milk,I found my dandruff production had grown to awesome

proportions.Following the advice of a real N.P, I called " Great

Smokies Diagnostic Lab " (google GSDL.com)and completed

a " comprehensive parasite check " . Three 10 day treatments with

Metronidazole(Flagyl) finally got rid of the parasites and the

dandruff.Young people who foray for the coprophilic Psylocybe

Mushrooms and consume them raw picked directly from the manure

patties often find themselves infested with some pretty predacious

internal parasites. These amoeba parasites are usually killed by the

heat of pastuerization. In order to find a doctor in your area who

works with GSDL one should call GSDL and get the names of doctors in

their local area who use GSDL.My doctor indicated that you probably

would not get an accurate reading if local labs were used.

However, he has had a scalp problem for a long time - patches of

what look like scabs all over his scalp under his hair. It causes

very bad dandruff as it flakes off and I'm not sure how to help him.

Hi Anita,

You may want to consider dermatitis herpetiformis, caused by

gluten intolerance. Very itchy blisters that form scabs, that weep

when rubbed off - then the scabs form again, and again.....

Have you tried using coconut oil, topically? It's great for dry skin and

hair and scalp, plus it's anti-fungal.

No--I hadn't heard that at all. Do I put it on, let it sit a set period of

time, then wash it out? Or use it as a conditioner after the wash? Sorry...I

am new to all this! :)

*Suggested Uses:*

*For dry scalp*: Rub into hair and scalp at least 30 minutes before

showering, or before bed at night. Wear a shower cap or towel to protect

bedding.

*As a hair conditioner*: Rub into the ends of your hair after washing, while

the hair is still wet. Apply as needed, working towards the scalp. It can

also be used as a pre-wash hair treatment applying just before showering.

Excellent for ALL hair types!

Thanks for the great link! I really appreciate it, and will read it after

sending this message to you!

I also read to rinse hair with ACV diluted half/half with water, and to leave

on. I think I will try the coconut oil 30 minutes prior to his shower, then

rinse with ACV diluted.

Blessings,Heidi

Also, just rub it on to the skin like lotion! It is excellent. So is Jojoba

oil for moisture.

It could be from multiple factors. To many things over lap to know what it

Barb,

I actually tried adding in naturthroid the other day and it made me feel

hypo. Do you know why this is and what I can do about it? I would like to

get on a more balanced T4/T3 combo at some point.

Thanks,

Mike

You felt hypo in one day? With 1/4 grain? I guess your body could sense the

missing T3. When I converted over, I did have a VERY hypo period where my bones

actually hurt, but after about 4 weeks of holding a dose, the extra T4 finally

started converting to enough T3 that the pain finally started dissipating. So

the transition is rough, but many things have improved for me. DH even says my

mood is better.

Maybe HAN will have some ideas.

And you switched to erfa?

Like I said, I would like to make the switch. I like the T3 only but I often

feel like I'm on speed - I am alert but don't have that calm but alert

feeling I had before going hypo. I even talked to Dr. Lowe, who is the

biggest promoter of T3 only dosing, and he told me that he prefers to put

people on NTH and only puts them on T3 if they don't do well on NTH.

I'll give it a try and just tuff it out. Thanks Barb
