Guest guest
Roni, What is absolutely critical to interpreting these tests is the timing of your last dose. If your doctor did not ask about that, there is a problem. Ideally, you should stop taking T3 at least a day before the blood draw. Otherwise, the spike in blood concentration following the meds will artificially suppress the TSH. Unfortunately, TSH is rather slow to respond, so you will need to endure some hypoT symptoms to get a proper reading. Chuck You wrote: > Here are the new labs I have. Guest guest
I think that the test results you have now are what Chuck indicated you should have when you're taking T3. Guest guest
Thanks for posting , the support is so important to me right now.  I'm experiencing a great deal of edema in feet, legs, hands, face. It's so swollen it hurts, and I can barely get my shoes on.  I am so upset at this point. The endo he wants me to see is about an hour from me in the city and I never go there on my own. I'm too afraid to do that on my own. I don't know what to do. I hope Chuck does post about this. Guest guest
elevated Alk phos can also be from bone. I speak from personal and professional experience. If you have osteoporosis, then it may be from that. there is a specific liver function test they can run to rule out liver, a GI doc will know about it. I can't think of it at the moment. From: Roni Molin Sent: Thursday, January 07, 2010 8:32 PM hypothyroidism Subject: New Labs I got the labs today. With 50 mcgs of T3 only these are the numbers. TSH 0.02 (L) Range ).40-500 T3 Total 155 " 80-200 T4 Free 0.2 (L) " 0.6-1.6 All the other CBC tests were fine and the kidneys are fine. The only things that were out of range were RDW 14.8 ( H) Range 11.0 - 14.5 and Alk Phos 123 ( H ) Range 31 - 98 I looked it up, and the Alk Phosphotase is a liver function test, and the only thing that I matched up with is that I do have gallstones (which have not given me any trouble). So I took my 2nd day of the diuretic the doctor rxd for me, and although it did take down some of the swelling, there is a considerable amount left. If it's not my kidneys or my liver, it could be my heart function, which he's going to do a stress echo on the 18th. Any ideas or comments. By the way, just to reiterate, I'm going to a new endo in Feb, who is supposed to be up on adrenals and thyroid. Guest guest
Roni, Again, the critical fraction is the FT3. Since he didn't test for TT4, you can't estimate the binding. A common cause of excess binding is adrenal, so you will be getting that checked by the new endo. Elevated RDW suggests anemia or perhaps a B12 issue, although this is also common with hypoT. At the very least, this will probably mean you need more tests to rule things out. Chuck You wrote: > > > > I got the labs today. Guest guest
Guys stop seeing Endo's or letting your Dr. send you to see them they are not up on low Testosterone. I feel all they are good for is high sugar. For a Dr. to test only Free T and this is cal. not a true test of all the Testosterone your Testis make the Total amount only 1 to 2 % is free Bioavailable is much better the Free. Here is what I get at Quest. With this test you evern get SHBG. If your Total T was 800 and your Free was up past mid range your in good shape. But if your Total is 200 and your Free it say at the top of the range your sill in dam bad shape. Estradiol sensitive Code #4021 Testosterone, Free, Bioavailable & Total LC/MS/MS Code # 14966X. Guest guest
Hello Barb, Here are my labs as of last week. These levels are at 60mg of TC per week with 250 iu of hcg two days before the T shot. Also, the thyroid levels are at 75mcg & 100 mcg of Synthroid alternate days. Now I think I will have to increase my TC to 100mg per week. TSH (3rd Gen) - 2.6 (Ref:0.4 - 4.5 mIU/L) T3 Free 308 - (Ref: 230- 420 pg/dl) T4 Free 1.3 - (Ref: 0.8 - 1.8 ng/dl) My doc did not order reverse T3 & T4 for what ever the reason. Testosterone, Total - 599 (Ref: 250 - 1100ng/dl) Testosterone, Free - 109 (Ref: 46 - 224 pg/ml) Testosterone, Bioavailable - 219.4 (Ref: 110 - 575 ng/dl) E2 - 39, (Ref: 13 - 54 pg/ml) I will have another set of labs for Testosterone done 3.5 days after the Test shot only with 1 tab of DIM a day. Based on these two I will get my 3rd set then my 4th and the 5th set. So I will know what exactly is my dose and if DIM is good enough or arimidex is needed etc. My doc is really cooperative to order these many labs and review them. I appreciate all your suggestions. Thank you Phil and Barb and all others once again.
Guest guest
Thank you Barb. My doc gave me Cytomel 5mg last year but I felt its making my knees pain so he asked me to stop. But may be I will try again and see. Also, the reason that I am taking alternate doses of synthroid is that I got some from India and the brand name called " Thyronorm " and it comes in 25mcg, 50, 75, 100 doses. The cost is much cheaper and the quality is very good. A 100 day supply cost me about $5.00 and instead of paying everymonth a copay of $5, I am taking some help from friends who travel frequently to India. My Ferritin and Cortisol levels were not checked last week but they were checked about 15days ago and they are good. I will check my labs and will post the numbers. Finally, the frequency of shots, I dont like the shots that much so I want to keep them at minimum. I use a 26 gauge needle for my T shots and am thinking of trying much smaller needles here after. Sometimes I think there is no way that the Test will be delivered with a smaller needle. Thank you, Joe > > > > Hello Barb, > > > > Here are my labs as of last week. These levels are at 60mg of TC per week with 250 iu of hcg two days before the T shot. Also, the thyroid levels are at 75mcg & 100 mcg of Synthroid alternate days. > > > > Now I think I will have to increase my TC to 100mg per week. > > > > TSH (3rd Gen) - 2.6 (Ref:0.4 - 4.5 mIU/L) > > > > T3 Free 308 - (Ref: 230- 420 pg/dl) > > > > T4 Free 1.3 - (Ref: 0.8 - 1.8 ng/dl) > > > > My doc did not order reverse T3 & T4 for what ever the reason. > > > > Testosterone, Total - 599 (Ref: 250 - 1100ng/dl) > > Testosterone, Free - 109 (Ref: 46 - 224 pg/ml) > > Testosterone, Bioavailable - 219.4 (Ref: 110 - 575 ng/dl) > > > > E2 - 39, (Ref: 13 - 54 pg/ml) > > > > I will have another set of labs for Testosterone done 3.5 days after the Test shot only with 1 tab of DIM a day. > > >
Guest guest
Joe I have been using a smaller needle for yrs. I use a 27g 1ml x 1/2 " lg. needle and shoot into my thigh doing my Test C shot every 3 days. To get the oil out of the vial I just pull the plunger all the way down and hold it takes about a min. to get .4 mls. When you use a small needle and do the shot it comes out slow and this is what you want. Guest guest
Thank you Phil and others. I use a 27 g needle for my Hcg but a 26 g for my TC. It takes a long time for the med to go in using a 27g but I think I will try it next time. I can handle 27g but 26 is kind of painful to me. (I dont like needles) For that reason I like to take my shots every week or 10days. But may be over the time I may get used to them. I will also contact Dr. to see if he thinks jumpstarting is a good idea for me. Also, I tried the HBOT today and I think I will start the therapy from Monday. I want to see if something works....
