Guest guest
I never read posts or threads at the site /messages I have all posts come to me in my free Email account. If I had to read posts like your trying to do I would go nuts. Lets use DECA's thread if you click on his Help post by going back in days until you see a post Help to find the first post you need to go to the bottom of the page until your see Help not Re. Help. Or keep hitting older until I found his first post. /message/69225 Then at the bottom the page it will show all his replys to his post. Guest guest
No wonder I feel like I am going nuts! LOL I guess this is simply the way it is. Never have quite seen a 'forum board' set up this way before, as I belong to a couple that have nothing to do with health issues. As the old saying goes,..... " It is what it is. " Thanks. > > I never read posts or threads at the site /messages > I have all posts come to me in my free Email account. Guest guest
Is there a way to get e-mail for only threads you reply, or subscribe to per se? Looks to me like if you do the e-mail thing that you get every post that is made, regardless of topic. That really would drive me nuts! Guest guest
Marc, I read on the web, can't stand e-mail clutter. You can scan 30 e-mails at once, and see by the first two lines of any post whether you want to even open it or not. If you click on a post, the whole history of the thread is at the bottom, so you can see who replied and when, etc. Barb > > Is there a way to get e-mail for only threads you reply, or subscribe to per se? > > Looks to me like if you do the e-mail thing that you get every post that is made, regardless of topic. Guest guest
I setup a Gmail account just for this board and I get all posts emailed to it. No, you either get all emails, none, or some sort of " digest " I've never bothered with. I use for my other email accounts, but the advantage to using Gmail over is that the responses are grouped per subject as Gmail has a conversation grouping feature. They descend much more like the other web-based message boards I've used. The catch is that most replies to a thread that keeps growing have a LOT of previous responses to scroll through. So instead of wasting time I just hit the subject bar and the post closes up like how you roll up a window shade. Nice. Then the next post appears and so on. I've tried scanning the subject and content snippets on the web version and found too much was missing. Yeah, the navigation buttons are confusing on it too! -Nigel On 29 March 2011 11:18, marc200134470 <cfs38@...> wrote: > > > Since you are a mod here, maybe you can explain what is going on. > > When a thread gets turned into more than one page, I can't see the other > responses without clicking on the last response by the thread title. > > There is more than one page, but the button that says 'next' at the bottom > is not highlighted and does nothing when I hit it. > If I hit sort by date it shows the first page in order, AND has a next > button,......when I hit it I go to another topic totally! > > Any clues what I am doing wrong? > I use the group by topic display option BTW. >
Guest guest
Thanks again all of you folks. I guess I will try the e-mail deal and see how that flies. I still can't seem to get the web deal to work in a way that makes any sense to me. Too bad that these do not work more like a traditional forum board where you can subscribe to a thread and all that stuff. Since I had the positive Celiac gene test done, I have joined one concerning that issue, and it works pretty smooth. Oh well,.....don't gripe about a resource that you use so much! Guest guest
One thing about is posting needs to be approved for new members so we don't get SPAM and crap from trouble makes. At other forums I have seen them get tons of SPAM and it shut them down. Guest guest
Windows Live Mail also allows sort by date(conversations} and works well with my hotmail account or other accounts simultaneously.
