Guest guest
Best way to tell if your Adrenals are doing good on HC is to take your temps read this link. http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=24 In this is a link to takeing your temps if your temp avg. is going up and down more the 2ths your Adrenals are not supported you need cortisol or HC to carry the Thyroid hormone out of your blood into your cells. Going on NTH med with out supporting your Adreanls on enough HC the Thyroid meds build up on your blood and don't get carried into your cells and you feel like crap. Guest guest
TSH being a pituitary hormone and not a thyroid hormone, doesn't really tell you much about your thyroid levels. And in-range doesn't necessarily mean ok. You would need to look at actual Free T3 and Free T4. You would want both at least at the 50% level in range. Have you been tested for Lyme's disease? > > > > > well end of 2008, i had low cortisol, total saliva daily level was 15.5,range 21-41, i think. cortisol was low in 1st 2 morning samples, then within range in the afternoon (but only because the range was so low it was in range). 18 months before, total saliva cortisol was 28 i think. so a 50% drop in 18 months > > > > > i don't think adrenals are the primary issue here, they are low (or high, maybe-but i don't see how) but i think the thinking is eitehr they are being dragged down by another failing gland? > > > > And where are your thyroid levels in all of this? Guest guest
Thank you all Ian, I hope i can get treated and feel better like you have done. what were your b12 results? For me, b12 makes me feel worse ('overmethylation' i think), my results were 300 how you felt sounds like how i feel now. just got to hang inthere i guess, as Phil says althoguh uncomfortable this isn't going to kill me. thanks chris > > > > Hello > > > > I am feeling very low and depressed lately, i don't feel i can go on much longer. > > > > I am in the middle of being diagnosed, my dr wants me off the HC i'm taking for a few more weeks so he can test for: cushings/pseudocushings and retest other stuff like Growth hormone and testosterone (both of which i suspect will be low) > > > > My Testosterone level was 10.7 i think last month (range 10-30 blood test), and last year 9.27 i think. > > > > could really low hormone levels be making me feel this bad? THat is my hunch (hunches have been right so far about adrenal fatigue, sleep apnea, and low testosterone levels). but could i be wrong and it's something else that say i need psychiatric drugs for? I am pinning my hope on this, as other things have failed (therapy, anti depressants, vitamins, minerals). > > > > thanks for any input > > > > chris > > >
Guest guest
i checked both Barb, free T3 6.99, range 2.8-6.5 (seen 7.5 as top of range before so 6.5 is a bit low, even seen 8 as top of range with some labs) free t4: 17.6 range 10-22 ratio t4-t3 : 2.52 Low (3.0-5) tsh 0.335 this was on about 5mcg t3, 50mcg t4. wasn't on a constant dose. didn't feel dreadful or great on this, but if other things are wrong, i'd still feel rubbish wouldn't i? t3 on it's own makes my legs go weak? not sure why. since iw asn't getting anywhere with the thyroid meds i came off them, and ocasionally try to lift my mood with some as it doeas sometimes work like that in me (i know, i know, i shouldn't take it like that but despeartion). when i first tried armour i felt so well then it all went wrong. i was only on 1/2 a grain but within hours felt really well, then it went when i tried to put up the dose! i don't know. maybe i did need thyroid? i have low basal temps anyway 36c i think but what other homrones are affecting that i wonder? tsh before HC was 0.72, after starting HC it went to 0.86, then lately after not having had any thyroid it was at 0.6 or something, so either my thyroid is working brilliantly, or, it's not being stimulated at all?? waht do you think?? thanks thanks chris > > > > > > > well end of 2008, i had low cortisol, total saliva daily level was 15.5,range 21-41, i think. cortisol was low in 1st 2 morning samples, then within range in the afternoon (but only because the range was so low it was in range). 18 months before, total saliva cortisol was 28 i think. so a 50% drop in 18 months > > > > > > > i don't think adrenals are the primary issue here, they are low (or high, maybe-but i don't see how) but i think the thinking is eitehr they are being dragged down by another failing gland? > > > > > > And where are your thyroid levels in all of this? Guest guest
People starting on Armour need to go slow and up the dose say every 2 weeks but only 15mgs when you get to 120 mgs you need to hold this for 8 weeks then do labs and go up if not good and your not feeling better 15mgs more it's a slow process. Guest guest
well i don't know what to do, Phil. i don't have recent labs. have no idea if t3 is low or high or what, i dno't think i have conversion issues though. i tried some t4 the other day (wednesday) as i was feeling so anxious all the time, i wondered if that was low thyroid, but i felt much more depressed and tired. > > > > > > > > > > > well end of 2008, i had low cortisol, > > total saliva daily level was 15.5,range 21-41, i think. > > cortisol was low in 1st 2 morning samples, then within range > > in the afternoon (but only because the range was so low it > > was in range). 18 months before, total saliva cortisol was > > 28 i think. so a 50% drop in 18 months > > > > > > > > > > > i don't think adrenals are the primary > > issue here, they are low (or high, maybe-but i don't see > > how) but i think the thinking is eitehr they are being > > dragged down by another failing gland? > > > > > > > > > > And where are your thyroid levels in all of > > this? Guest guest
I would not do any Thyroid meds coming off HC and when you test Thyroid don't take the meds that morning of labs do labs then take meds or your going to get high levels. Guest guest
No you can't do any of that stuff is your Dr. needs you off Cortisol type stuff for testing you need to be off them 2 weeks. I don't know if you can do this most people that are in bad shape on there adreanls can't come off it read this 911 link. http://www.cushings-help.com/911.htm I went into Adrenal Crisis on HC meds over doing it working out side ended up in the ER two times needed a big shot of Medrol to pull me out of it. Guest guest
no i've not checked rt3, i was going to but couldn't afford it. also, a well known dr in the UK i saw for thyroid problems doesn't seem to put much emphasis on the test, so i didn't bother > > > > > > > > > > > well end of 2008, i had low cortisol, total saliva daily level was 15.5,range 21-41, i think. cortisol was low in 1st 2 morning samples, then within range in the afternoon (but only because the range was so low it was in range). 18 months before, total saliva cortisol was 28 i think. so a 50% drop in 18 months > > > > > > > > > > > i don't think adrenals are the primary issue here, they are low (or high, maybe-but i don't see how) but i think the thinking is eitehr they are being dragged down by another failing gland? > > > > > > > > > > And where are your thyroid levels in all of this?
