Guest guest
I almost forgot, the first test I did on DH was saliva, cause that didn't require a doctor's approval. After his saliva showed him low in thyroid, cortisol, and testosterone, and high in estradiol, I was able to show that to our primary and request bloodwork, which confirmed all the saliva labs. > > > From: Barb <baba@...> > > Subject: Saliva vs Blood Hormone Labs > > > > Date: Sunday, January 16, 2011, 11:55 AM > > This debate comes up in every group, > > so out of curiosity, I tested saliva and blood one day > > apart. Guest guest
Yes I have seen this also but not all that much. Guest guest
I use blood and urine together for DHEA, testosterone, Progesterone serum and saliva - more so symptoms dicatee treatment. If I am because symptoms over lap, I will ask one of my experts in the field just an email or phone call away. I have only found few you I value their opinon. > > This debate comes up in every group, so out of curiosity, I tested saliva and blood one day apart. I use topical estrogen and progesterone, and was meticulous about not getting any on my fingers for 3 days before saliva testing. Results? The estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone were well correlated, with saliva and blood lab falling in roughly the same place within the range. The surprise was the huge disparity in DHEA-S. In saliva, my DHEA was at the bottom of the range, and in blood, top of the range. I found some research that says the DHEA-S molecule is too big to make it into saliva, so that could account for the disparity. Yet I've seen other folks with high DHEA saliva labs, so don't know. > > Anyway, just food for thought.
