Hi and Welcome,

No don't take the gel your Dr. is not up on this because he told you to try it

to jump start your levels. Any amount of Testosterone you add to your body will

shut down your testis from making it. Your brain will see the Testosterone in

your blood and stop sending the LH and FSH messages to your Testis to make the T

your doing now. You will or can end up worse then you are now.

Men don't get ED and lose there libido due to low T it's the Ratio of

Testosterone to Estradiol that kills your sex life. When I fist got tested my

Total T was 120 and I still had sex with my wife 2x's a week. I felt a lot of

fatigue but still made it a point to have sex.

Your under a lot of stress this over works your Adrenals and you can end up with

low Cortisol levels this in turn make you feel like crap and can have an effect

on your Thyroid. And lower your Testosterone levels. Read this link in this is

a test you can order a 4x's in a day saliva test get do it and test your

Estradiol levels with your LH and FSH so we can tell if your Primary meaning

your testis are not working or Secondary meaning your Pituitary gland in your

brain is not telling your Testis to make enough T.

http://livingnetwork.co.za/hormones/adrenal-fatigue/

There a lot of things that can make a mans T levels low like yours over and

above the stress. High levels of Iron, Prolactin, a low grade infection, poor

diet, some meds your on, to much soy in your diet and the list goes on.

Here is a link of labs I tell men they need adding to this do Total T3 and T4

for Thyroid.

http://forums.realthyroidhelp.com/viewtopic.php?f=5 & t=7059

Do not go on Testosterone meds until you know why your low. Until your feeling

better don't over do it in the GYM if you don't recover fast you over did it and

if your Adrenals are bad this will make them worse.

My advice would be to get your E2 - estradiol - checked. T converts to

E2 in men. The enzyme that does this is more prevalent in fat cells,

so with your weight you might expect high E2 levels. High E2 robs you

of a lot of the benefit of T and drains T away. Men with high e2 can

get a 200 to 300 point total T boost by bringing their E2 levels into

normal range. (20-30). Lowering your E2 levels also makes it much

easier to work out and lose weight.

Also I'd suggest having him run a look at your cortisol and adrenal

levels. You can get similar symptoms from these.

However, there is one major symptom I do not have and that is low libido, as

mine is as strong as ever and I have no problems at all getting wood (must be my

Italian genes). Morning, afternoon, night, no problems at all getting wood.

Would you recommend the short term use of Androgel???

However, there is one major symptom I do not have and that is low libido, as

mine is as strong as ever and I have no problems at all getting wood (must

be my Italian genes). Morning, afternoon, night, no problems at all getting

wood.

Not before these other items. Also your total T is not that low. Total

T can vary by 300 points in a matter of an hour. You should probably

be tested again before considering T.

Also there are a number of tests that should be run before starting T.

Prolactin especially. See

http://www.aace.com/pub/pdf/guidelines/hypogonadism.pdf

for the basics.
