As I posted before, I was a 52 on the Quest #4021 test with a 13-54 range. From

reading this board, I know it should be around 20 ideally and not over 30.

Can a reading like mine cause a person to hold water per se?

I don't go that much during the day, but come night-time I pee like a race

horse!

I can lose several pounds from early evening to early morning at times.

Urologist says my prostate is fine,.....as in no BPH, and my PSA is .5 as well.

I think I am dumping my sodium at night, and that is why I have to replace it

during the day.

Just wondering if my level of 52 could be causing this?

I am arming myself with as much info as I can before I see my Cardiologist early

next month. Going to try hard for some Arimidex needless to say. He is my last

hope without going to yet ANOTHER doc!

I used to pee several times a night too, and my prostate is also fine :)

I think this is the low aldosterone we talked about because I don't think

estrogen has a cycle such that it'd go down at night and then back up during the

day. So estrogen water-retention would be constant till you got the estrogen

down.

I'm also thirsty at night so keep two glasses of sea-salted water on the

bedstand that I drink throughout the night. My estrogen should be highest at

night since I take mine before bedtime to help me sleep.

Barb,.....that was funny about 'your' prostate.

Just wondering basically.

The aldosterone issue and testing is already on my list.

Should be beer free in about a week. This sounds nuts, but my Cardiologist told

me that should I ever decide to quit totally, to not stop 'cold turkey' per se.

Said that if you drink more than one or two a few times per week that the body

gets used to it, and stopping totally could cause spikes in my blood pressure.

He said to drop one every two days, until down to what he calls 'acceptable.'

He will be thrilled to find out I have quit when I see him.

I also have one other bad habit that I have chosen to give up as well.

I have never smoked anything in my life, but when I was heavy into playing

sports I got caught by the 'snuff' addiction. Yea,....I know it's a disgusting

habit.

I have no idea if nicotine can come into play with any of the hormone issues,

but I KNOW it's not good for your BP and pulse rate.

I've gone from a can a day to one every 4 days at this point. Yesterday I went a

full 18 hours with none of the stuff. I guess the dependence is way down since I

wasn't 'wigging out' or anything like in the past. Should be off that 100%

within a week as well!

How can I live with no bad habits? LOL

I'm a saint and do just fine! :) ROFL - not really

I was just thinking you said you took Cozaar? And DH was on Benicar. Since I

track all his labs, I noticed that after starting the Benicar, his potassium

went way up and his sodium had come down. So your labs may partly be a result

of that drug, and could even be the cause of your peeing. Your body could be

trying to dump excess potassium to be in balance with the sodium, but the fact

that you mostly go at night screams low aldosterone. I don't remember DH peeing

any more, but he did start to feel poorly again, and it was NOT helping his BP

any, so I weaned him off that too.

I keep track of my results also since 2004 anyway.

Sodium – 141 / 139 / 139 / 136 / 133L

Potassium – 4.7 / 3.9 / 4.1 / 4.2 / 4.5

Chloride – 104 / 102 / 103 / 98 / 96L

These are 2/04-6/05-12/07-7/09-12/09 in ascending order.

I can't remember when I started Cozaar, but I have been on it for quite some

time. They tried me on several drugs when I was first diagnosed but I had bad

side effects.

This is my TSH history which I know does not mean much.

1.18 / 1.04 / 1.15 / 1.04 / 1.69 / 1.51

The last was the one I just had done from the endo of course.

Most folks I know think I keep track of too many things. I happen to think it's

good to be able to look at how things change as the years pass.

You must keep in mind that I have never used much salt, and I was never into

'fast food' that is full of sodium.

Add in the fact that I have been a big beer drinker,......which has mostly water

and alcohol. Alcohol is dehydrating in and of itself.

I am going to have my aldosterone levels checked, but I have a gut feeling that

quitting the beer will result in a big change in many areas for me. We will ALL

know fairly soon needless to say.

Very little sodium to none in light beer like I have always used.

The alcohol is dehydrating as well as acting as a diuretic so to speak.

Just looked up what I drink,.....0% sodium.

Some heavy beers DO have sodium though, but still very little.

Well your not holding on to your sodium I was thinking you might get some from

the beer. Yes I would check it out.

Barb,.......just did some reading on Cozaar and elevated potassium.

Mine are in range as you can see, but towards the high end.

No 'nanners' for a few days. I know it sounds crazy but I want to see if it

makes a difference.
