Guest guest
I recently joined this group to get some information on low T as my doctor is advising me to start taking Angrogel. However, I'm not sure I want to head down this path of TRT just yet. Here is my story: - I'm 43 years old, 5'8 " and currently weigh 218 lbs. with 28% bodyfat (yes I know thats not good). - As recently as 2 years ago, I was down to 194 lbs with 23% bodyfat, working out regularly. - For the past 6 months or so I've been experiencing alot of headaches. - For the past 6 months or so I've lost alot of energy and feeling very down. - Things got much worse in the past 2 months as I'd almost describe my mood as bordrline depressive. - I had no energy to work out on a regular basis, getting in some workouts when I did not have a headache AND had some energy. - I have been under alot of stress the past year and a half as I work for a certain bailed out company (AIG). - When I saw my doctor in early December, he ran a bunch of blood tests on me, including lyme disease, thyroid and testosterone levels. Here are the lab results from the beginning of December 2009: - Total Testosterone: 466 (normal range listed as 260-1000ng/dL - Free Testosterone %: 1.5 (normal range listed as 1.0-2.7%) - Free Testosterone: 70.5 (normal range 50.0-210.0 pg/mL) - Total Cholesterol is 207 which was a jump up from 160 a year ago. Seeing these results, my doctor said while the testosterone results were listed in the normal range, he wanted me to start taking Angrogel (5mg) for 4-6 weeks to see if this would jump start me to getting some more energy to work out and take off this extra weight and increase my T levels. He would then retest me in 6 weeks to measure the change in T levels. All the symptoms listed above are somewhat typical for someone with low T. However, there is one major symptom I do not have and that is low libido, as mine is as strong as ever and I have no problems at all getting wood (must be my Italian genes). Morning, afternoon, night, no problems at all getting wood. Since joining this group, it appears that once you go on TRT, it is a lifetime thing, including reduced testes which I have no interest in since I do not have any problems with my hardware. As such, I have not yet taken Angrogel and I'm not sure I want to as I'm concerned my Dr is not up to speed on the use and effects of taking Angrogel, even on a short term basis which I'm not convinced can solve this problem. Since hearing this news, I've tried to get back in the gym more (I think reading the posts on this group may have " scared me straight " ) and I'm feeling a little better but nowhere near where I was 2 years ago. Should I proceed with this " short-term " Angrogel use? Will using it for 4-6 weeks have any long term impact to my T levels? Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.
