Guest guest
Progesterone cream will lower your estradiol. Some men like it and some men don't like the way it makes them feel. It's worth a try. Ask your doctor for a prescription for 6 mg/day progesterone cream which you would take to a compounding pharmacist or you can buy it off the internet. Apply the cream at night before you go to bed. If 6 mg/day doesn't lower your estradiol enough and you are good with how it makes you feel then you can increase the dosage. Generally, men don't use more than 12-15 mg/day. Try to keep your progesterone level between 1,000-2,000 pg/ml. I know some men who use both arimidex and progesterone because one or the other isn't enough for them to keep their estradiol levels low. BR From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Rouse Sent: Tuesday, February 15, 2011 8:06 AM Subject: Need advice on lowering E2 Hey Group, Well, I have a dilemma. I have very high E2 and I've tried Indoleplex/DIM with no success (was on it for three months and it didn't even dent my E2 levels). I tried arimidex last October and I got some very bad side effects from it (short term memory loss, irritability, insomnia). I gave the arimidex another shot this week and I can already feel the side effects creeping back in. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Can't do Zinc because I'm adrenal fatigued and it messes with my cortisol levels. At this point I may have to just not get on testosterone because I can't take anything to block the E2 and I'm having bad E2 symptoms. Frustrating.... Thanks! -- Mike
Guest guest
Mike, Can you go to Dr. 's forum and read chilln's sticky " Hormones 101 " . Do read this over a few times it's a bit hard to understand but I feel it works. I don't take Arimidex anymore I switched to Aromasin and only need to take it every 4 to 5 days at 12.5 mgs. But it was doing the Preg. and Prog. cream that helped bring up my Cortisol levels and stop the conversion of T to E2. I tested Preg. and Prog. before trying this and both were very low at the bottom of the range. This worked so dam good I was thinking my E2 levels were still to high and what it was is my E2 went to low. I found out that getting my Preg. and Prog. levels up I can still have night time and morning wood with E2 levels at 7. Yes my last sets of labs my E2 was at 7 and 8 and my Preg. levels went over the top of the range. I test my morning fasting Cortisol levels after taking 10 mgs of HC in the morning about 6am then do my labs at 9am my cortisol went up from 12 to 19 doing this. My Dr. told me to stop the Preg. cream until my next set of labs in 8 weeks because I was so high. The Preg. and Prog. cream I use was to strong Life-Flo. Go to Dr. 's forum and read the sticky " Hormones 101 " you might not need anything to lower your E2 and you much never need TRT. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?2-All-Things-Male & s= & dayspr\ une= Before I tired this I was doing a lot of Arimidex .5 to 1mgs/day to keep my E2 down. Guest guest
Hi Beth, It's funny I have been telling men never use Prog. because Dr. says it's a feminizing hormone. Yet I was on Preg. cream 15 mgs and ran out. I wanted a stronger dose and thought I got 20 mgs per pump from Life-Flo. I was using it 4 weeks feeling great on it thinking it was Preg. I posted at Dr. 's how good I was on 20 mgs and one of the guys pointed out to me that Life-Flo dose not sell Preg. cream in 20 mgs I must be using Prog. My labs were very low for Prog. <.5 I felt great on this and my libido when over the top. I am 67 need all the help I can get. When I did my next set of labs my Preg. levels came back over the top of the range on the Prog. cream. My Dr. has me on 400 mgs of CoQ10 3x's / day for Statin Drug damage to my joints and muscle. He told me to stop the Prog. and preg. cream don't do them until my next set of labs. My Prog. test did not come back on my labs but my Preg. was over the top of the range and this drove my E2 down to 8 way to low. He feels the supplement CoQ10 back filled from the Prog. into Preg. Doing this my Cortisol levels shot up to 19 and it stopped my Testosterone from converting into E2. Strange that this works like that chilln a mod at Dr. 's has a sticky about " Hormones 101 " and talks about how this happens. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?2-All-Things-Male Co-Moderator Phil > From: Beth Rosenshein <beth@...> > Subject: RE: Need advice on lowering E2 > > Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 10:41 AM > Progesterone cream will lower your > estradiol. Are you sure it is ok to take progesterone? Guest guest
Better Question: I'm on 6 mg of Medrol b/c my doc, who has been working with me for several months to get my T3 up in the physiologic range, wanted to try the shotgun approach to get my T3 up. Can I still take Prog, Preg, DHEA, and Test being on 6 mg of Medrol and get the needed effects? Guest guest
, DIM didn't used to work for me. It actually messed me up more sometimes and induced high estrogen symptoms. Apparently you have to methylate the estrogen metabolites that DIM promotes to actually give your body a decreased estrogenic load. I've found DMG to work very well to do this, although I do best with many DMG capsules a day. Some do fine with TMG, which has the added function of lowering homocysteine as it converts to DMG. But I can't take it as my homocysteine is already low. Now DIM does work for me. I still need some Arimidex, but much less and can easily go too low on it now. Maybe progesterone feminises if it lowers DHT. I didn't find progesterone to drive up estradiol and think it actually converted to some testosterone. Other than that, the cream was just plain weird and it messed up my electrolytes, could give me a headache and made me feel strange and like my bones hurt deep inside of them. It opened up my nasal passageways, oddly! -Nigel On 15 February 2011 17:35, Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...>wrote: > Hi Guys, > > I was told by two very reputable hormone docs that progesterone is a > feminizing hormone. Guest guest
Hi Phil Are you saying you use both preg and prog cream together? If so, how do you apply these? Both at the same time? They indicate both are applied to the same areas? Last question is, can these creams alone be used to reduce a high E2? Thanks in advance for your time. Guest guest
If you read at Dr. 's chilln's Hormones 101 in this he tells you what labs you need and how to go about this. I tested very low for both Preg. and Prog. I started on Preg. cream 15 mgs / pump from Life-Flo tested after 4 weeks my labs for Preg. went up to 117 but my Prog. never moved up from <.5. I went on Prog. cream 20 mgs / pump and this is too strong for men. I felt great my E2 went down my Cortisol levels went up and my Preg. went over the top of the range. My E2 was to low 8 pg/ml so I am off Preg. and Prog. cream until I see my next set of labs. You need to run labs if your Prog. is low try it. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?15290-Hormones-101 Co-Moderator Phil > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...> > > > Subject: Need advice on lowering > E2 > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 10:05 AM > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > Well, I have a dilemma. Guest guest
Not a problem 6 mgs of Medrol is = to 30 mgs or Cortef or HC. I am on 30 mgs here is a link to a FAQ's I help do about Adrenals with a cut and paste about Medrol. I think what your Dr. is trying to do is get your Thyroid hormones out of your blood into your cells. I you are low on Cortisol you body can't carry the Thyroid hormones out of your blood into your cells. And over time you labs look good but all the T4 and T3 is in your blood and with good Cortisol levels you body will carry the Thyroid out of your blood into your cells. If your labs are low for T4 and T3 this will not help you need thyroid meds. Doing chilln's Hormones 101 prople are coming off HC and Medrol meds and doing fine some not do fine. http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/adrenal-info/faq/ =================================================== 46) The HC doesn’t seem to last long enough – what is Medrol? Dr Peatfield says that HC is “not stored by the body and gets rapidly used; 2 or 3 hours will see it pretty well used up completely.†Some people metabolize HC faster than others. If a person has symptoms of low cortisol despite gradually working up to about 30mg of HC, they may want to talk with their doctor about trying Medrol. Depending on the persons metabolism, the 1/2 life of Medrol can range from 18 to 36 hours. 47) How do I dose Medrol? Conversion tables will tell you that 1mg of Medrol = 5mg of HC. Persons who are already on HC can gradually switch over to Medrol, and typically end up with about 6mg of Medrol spread out through the day. It does not need to be taken every 4 hours like you would with HC, but a typical dosing schedule might be 3 mg at wake, 2mg in the afternoon, and 1mg at bedtime. Guest guest
No you don't use both at the same time I tested low for both so I tried Preg. first my levels for Preg. came up but my levels for Prog. did not come up at all. I went on prog. by accident long story but it helped me big time. My Cortisol levels came up slowing down the conversion of T to E2 to the point I went to low. You do need to got to Dr. 's forum and read chilln's " Hormones 101 " and do labs first. If you are not very low on Prog. don't use it. Right now I am off both because my E2 went to low and my Preg. levels went to high my labs for Prog. did not come back Quest did not test them. But at the time I was doing Prog. when my levels for Preg. came back high so we are taking a break until my next set of labs come in. You need to read this it's a work in progress. http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/showthread.php?15290-Hormones-101 =================================================== Hormones 101 The complete list of Hormones info is available on the AllThingsMale CMS (content management system). The Hormones main page is here: http://www.musclechatroom.com/forum/...hp?11-hormones From there you can navigate to the following pages: Hormone Modulation Therapy 101 (great overview which explains how to optimize the following hormones, in the simplest way) Cortisol Boost 101 Cortisol Reduction 101 Testosterone Boost 101 Thyroid Boost 101 Baldness and Prostate 101 Insulin Sensitivity Boost 101 Co-Moderator Phil > > > > > From: Rouse <michael.hugh.rouse@...> > > > Subject: Need advice on lowering > E2 > > > > > > Date: Tuesday, February 15, 2011, 10:05 AM > > > Hey Group, > > > > > > Well, I have a dilemma. Guest guest
Have you tested your Prog. levels I liked how using the cream at night helped me sleep like a baby and the way it drove up my libido. But I have to stop using it my Preg. went to high and my E2 went to low. Guest guest
How much arimidex are you using? Did you notice you felt differently when you started on the progesterone?
