Guest guest
Joe, I have researched this therapy for use in brain injury rehabilitation pretty extensively. As a matter of fact, I am in the process of getting signed up for a clinical trial at Oklahoma State University using HBOT to treat brain injuries. So, from what I have read, it does have the potential to help in the vascularization of the pituitary gland. The only caveat to this is that sometimes it can take many sessions to see any benefit for neurological disorders. The recommended number of sessions is 40 and I have read that it can take anywhere from 100 to 300 for neurological injuries. So, it could get very expensive for you if you require a larger number of sessions than what is recommended. Guest guest
I have heard of this Dr. talked told me about it. Let us know how it worked. Guest guest
Mike, Thank you for your input. Please keep me updated on how your clinical trials go. From what I have read ........it looks like HBOT is a possible treatment from Hypogonadism. And coming to pricing ....... now a days its getting cheaper ....like $45.00 per hour for a mild HBOT 89% oxygen at 1.5ATA pressure for 13 sessions and more. I think we can get some discount if we do more sessions. And even if it costs about 5000 its much better than all these shots and tests and harmone immbalances like high E2 and associated pain etc Now a days we can even buy these units or lease them and keep them at home which may work even at lower pricing. And as long as your age is below 50 the higher the chances as your body tries to heal itself when given some oxygen etc ......this is what I read. Its looks like HBOT is somewhat hopeful for this condition. Please keep me posted. We need to find a way. Thank you Joe > > > > > > > Hello All, > > > > I heard and read that there are chances of reversing the damage caused to > > the pituitary, brain and hypothalamus with Hyperbaric Oxygen Theraphy. Guest guest
Phil, What did you hear about HBOT ? What is Dr.'s insight on this ? Can you give more detailed info on this. Guest guest
Wow, that is a good price. The guy in Boulder, CO, who is the only private clinic in Colorado who does this, charges $150 per session. That is why I'm forced to travel ( expenses included in the study) to OK for 8 weeks to do this. Good luck and I'll definitely keep you posted. Guest guest
Thank you Mike. Yes. You are right. The prices are a little higher in many places and as there are alot of new places who are introducing HBOT now a days, the prices are also coming down. They are even leasing the equipment now a days and patients with Arthritis, diabetes, stroke, hypertension and organ damage etc are prefering to lease them for home treatment. Also, the one that I am going to is MILD hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Its not as effective but still is good. 89% at 1.5 ATA. The chances of negative effects like siezures and oxygen poisoning are very low compared to FULL HBOT at 100% O2 at 3.0 ATA Here is a link. http://www.mild-hyperbaric-oxygen-therapy.com/ I am 38yrs old and I have seen many people even in late 20s suffering from Hypogonadism. I have read in many articles including Yoga articles that by providing Oxygen to the body will help the body heal itself especially in younger patients. But some articles have some concerns. Please see below. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1464149-overview http://qjmed.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/content/full/97/7/385 I think by trying this .....we may be able to contribute something towards the ongoing research to treat or cure Hypogonadism. This to me looks like a curse on a man. Real big pain. Please send me any more information you may have that is useful for all of us. Thanks Mike Joe > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hello All, > > > > > > > > I heard and read that there are chances of reversing the damage caused > > to > > > > the pituitary, brain and hypothalamus with Hyperbaric Oxygen Theraphy. > > I am > > > > hoping to start the therapy and see if it helps. > > > > > > > > When it helps stroke patients, I think it will help hypogonadism as > > well. > > > > What are your thoughts ? > > > > > > > > http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyperbaric_medicine > > > > > > > > http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1464149-overview > > > > > > > > http://www.drcranton.com/hbo.htm > > > > > > > > Please let me know what you think ? > > > > > > > > Joe > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > -- > > > Mike > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I looked into it on the web and feel that due to my head injury this would not work for me. I asked my Dr. about it and he said there is not much info about this working. This was about 6 yrs ago so I stopped looking into it. The cost for this is not covered and there is not much about it's working. Guest guest
Phil, it is actually indicated for head injuries. I'm not sure where you formulated that opinion from. Guest guest
I wrote the last email with all do respect... And, like a lot of alternative therapies (TRT, neurofeedback, etc..) there isn't a lot of data out there because of the cost associated with doing the research, politics, pharmecutical companies, etc. However, as I indicated in a former email, it is now being researched extensively for its use in the treatment of chronic head injuries and has shown positive, albeit mixed, results. Guest guest
Phil, Yes. Mike is right. Today there is extensive research going on and all the hopes are on crush injuries and especially " brain tissue and other soft tissues " . Stroke, burn injuries, tissue necrosis, co poisoning and other poisoning, arthritis, post radiation issues, wound healing and many more are being treated. The costs came down extremely. I talked to a therapist and she is giving for $45.00 per hour for 13 treatments and may go cheaper if more treatments are needed. 2 yrs ago when I enquired at one of the places they didnt even want to accept me for therapy but now they are open for any condition. 29yrs is kind of old and I dont know if it helps or not but from what I read .........I understand it works better in younger folks as their body tries to heal by itself natuarally and as age goes by the healing ability also reduces. I hope atleast some of us may be helped with this therapy. I think its better than Test & HCG shots and controling E2 and monitoring other harmone imbalance, labworks etc. I think we'll know the outcome soon after Mike finishes his therapy and also myself (I am still doing some research). If you see my recent posts I had chest pain in the left side and even back and I had to go for stress test and Echo Cardiogram and I still have pain but no blocks found. I am taking Nattokienese and am still looking. My cardiologist said some of the steroids like Testosterone inj cause heart issues etc ......... my hope is if we find a cure for this ..............lot of our problems are gone. Thank you Joe > > > > > > > > > > > From: inc_100 <no_reply > > <no_reply%40> > > > > > > > > > > Subject: Hyperbaric > > Oxygen Therapy > > > > for Hypogonadism in men aged less than 50 yrs > > > > > > > > < %40> > > > > > > Date: Monday, August 9, 2010, 12:14 AM > > > > > > Hello All, > > > > > > > > > > > > I heard and read that there are chances > > of > > > > reversing the > > > > > > damage caused to the pituitary, brain > > and > > > > hypothalamus with > > > > > > Hyperbaric Oxygen Theraphy.
