Guest guest
I've noticed a tendency to retain water, especially in the summer if I don't eat enough salt. My diet consists of whole foods only, so I don't get very much sodium to start with. A couple of years ago, in August, I started to gain about a pound a day for five days and also developed shortness of breath. I quickly added salt to my food and I lost the extra weight very quickly and the shortness of breath resolved itself. I've since discovered that when my body becomes depleted in sodium, it starts to secret antidiuretic hormone in order to not lose anymore sodium. That results in water retention in the wrong spaces. This also only happened after I started eating low carb. My blood pressure dropped to 100 over 50 and I would get dizzy. Nobody warned me when I stopped eating sugar and junk food that this would happen. Ed T
