Take a shower the morning of your labs do them first then put on the gel when

they are through taking your blood. If you can't do this shower put on the gel

keep it away from the area they take the blood and have the labs in 6 hrs.

====================================================

Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain

sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops

sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were

making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel

your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel.

Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is

what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150.

The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the

first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and

you fall back.

Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you

need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far

as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread

it over the area but don't rub it in.

The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If

you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams

don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots.

I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up

feeling worse. Most men just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5

grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the

use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen

and test them again in 2 weeks.

When you go to do labs get up and shower that morning go do your labs and then

put in the gel after your blood test so you don’t spike up your labs. If you

can’t do labs in the morning shower put on the gel but don’t get any gel on

the spot they take the blood from. Do your labs about 6 hrs later.

Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell

back.

....I would not apply it till after the appointment, but I am kinda in the

same position. i just started 3 weeks ago and will have my first blood test in

another 5 weeks. when you say you have not noticed anything, did you notice any

improvement? I started at 244 and actually feel alot different. I work out

alot and swim competitively on a national level, and noticed my endurance had

died over the last year (which is what prompted me to go to the doc), and

actually in the past 3 weeks I have seen improvement.

I believe you should not. Get your blood work done first and make sure where you

put the gel is cleaned very good. A lil bit of T can contaminate the blood work.

As soon as your done put the androgel back on.

The bloodwork should be done in the morning.

Quick Question, I've been on Androgel 5mg packets for 6 weeks now, tomorrow I

have blood test to check T levels (first since taking Androgel). My question is

should I apply Androgel tomorrow morning before the Dr. visit? Appointment is

at 8am. I don't want to artificially spike my levels.

I'm not really feeling much benefit to date. Before I was on, T was at 325 and

8.6 free, we shall see what it is after 6 weeks.

Thanks for the advice.

Thanks everyone for the advise. I didn't apply the gel after my shower, I did

the blood test around 8:30 and then applied when I got to work.

I felt a little better after a week on, then went back to how I felt before.

I'm 41, I'm in good physical shape, I go to the gym 6-7 days a week. I've been

trying to put on a little muscle, just to tone, and have been having a hard

time. ED problems as well, which have not improved after 6 weeks. Dr. said if

I'm still low he would double dose to 10. I'll post the results when I get

them, probably a few days.

Thanks everyone.

I finally got my results back, not good:

Total 208

Free 4.3

I was at 325 & 8.6. I knew something was up, I've been feeling like crap, low

energy, low libido. Doc wants me to double the dose to 10, and re-test in 6

weeks, but I'm not sure what to do at this point.

I had been following the manufacturer's instructions of applying to upper

arms/shoulder and stomach area, I think will mix it up and do inner thigh,

behind legs and knee, where skin is a little thinner and blood flow is greater,

maybe that will help. I just hate waiting another 6 weeks and not knowing if

its working.

Hey Bill & Phil,

Thanks for your input. Just an FYI, I don't have a lot of abdomen fat, i'm 6ft,

weigh 175, in good shape. Last time I had my body fat measured I was around

13%. I know the instructions call for applying to your upper arms and abs area,

and to avoid the chest. That is what i have done up until now, maybe a little

on the thighs at times. This morning, I applied two packets, one on my arms and

shoulders, the other on my abs area. I know the reason for the upper arms and

stomach areas are recommended so you don't get any on family, but that is not an

issue, separated, no kids. If I don't start to feel it in a few weeks, I'll

start the search for a new Dr, anybody have any recommendations of a good dr in

Phoenix?

Thanks,
