Hello All,

I was prescribed and started Femara yesterday. Regarding dosage, what I

originally stated here was incorrect. I am taking one 2.5 mg pill every week,

not one 25 mg pill as I stated before. Fortunately, my insurance will cover it

consistently, which is a huge relief.

Thanks to Phil and others, I do know what to look for to best discern whether or

not it is working as it should. Does anyone know how long it usually takes,

time-wise, for an aromatase inhibitor to be fully effective, or does that

totally vary from person to person?

After the endocrinology appointment, I gave an Estradiol blood sample. Two

weeks after being on Femara, I will provide a blood sample of Estradiol and

Testosterone, and will do the same thing after 6 weeks. During our visit, the

endocrinologist and I looked over previous labs. I learned that my testosterone

level a week after injection was somewhere around 380. That's lower than it

should be, of course. Due to a technical glitch in the system, I was unable to

see the level taken immediately after injection, but I know from the way I'm

feeling that it wasn't much higher.

I'm glad to be finally starting the process of lowering Estradiol, and

optimistic that I'll be on the way to getting my life back. The endo cautioned

me to not expect too much from this, but I think my expectations are reasonable.

After this, the next project is my thyroid gland.

This board has been very informative and helpful, and I do appreciate it.
