Guest guest
Hi, Tim M, >Have any males had their levels checked and had it come out low? >Mine was something like 14, reference range 19-30. My doc is going >to prescribe the cream form. WTF, is there any organ, tissue, or >cell that this illness doesn't affect? At least I know my hair won't >be receeding any time soon. Perhaps replacement therapy may actually >provide some benefit. I have low testosterone, and am on the gel. I started out OK in hormone levels, after about 2 yr started with low DHEA, which I supplemented to get up to normal (for a 40-ish male). Then after another couple of years my testosterone started showing up low. It has apparently continued to slowly decline, as I had my testosterone dose increased not long after the gel came out. Supposedly last numbers were normal, but I don't have the numbers & would like to see for myself. If you think this will stop your hair falling out, think again. Especially after you start supplementing your testosterone levels. Guest guest
Hi SKY and Welcome, Your dad has a lot of his plate and treating his low Testosterone levels will be a big help to his feeling better. Here is a link I came accross the other day full of info about low T and it's the most info I ever seen on one place. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 Here is a cut and paste on what can cause low T in men. ========================================================================== According to the Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab, these are the causes of hypogonadism: chronic/systemic illness surgery chemotherapy infections premature aging testicular trauma stress Kleinfelter's syndrome autoimmune damage tobacco and alcohol sleep apnea excessive heat obesity hypercortisolism medications hyperthyroidism malnutrition ?Subtle clinical signs of hypogonadism may include slight gynecomastia and soft small testes. However, researchers have noted that " the findings of physical examination in men with adult-onset hypogonadism are often normal.? Secondary hypogonadism can develop as a result of hypothalamic or pituitary disease, obesity, hypothyroidism or other causes. Some conditions, such as hypercortisolemia, AIDS and severe systemic illnesses, can trigger hypogonadism through a combination of both primary and secondary mechanisms.? Guest guest
Hi njguy I have the same problems and was told the same thing and finally a friend gave me some testgel and it changed my life I went from a stay at home doing nothing (i am retired) after taking the gel and use up what a friend gave me. I went to the my doctor and put container on the desk and said this is what I want and first question was where did you get that. I said I can not tell you because I am not suppost to have this it is a control drug. So I got the drug and it is funny that women can get estrogen replacement and nothing is thought of it but when a man wants testrone replacement the whole world falls apart. I went to pick up my first prescription and had to show my ID then had to sign a control substance book then I got the drug. Regardless of what the doctors say it helped me a lot but now i am living in mexico no prescription required. but cost just about as much so i am trying to start injections once every two weeks. For me I think it would work out better, but we will see. take care From: njguy442@...
