Guest guest
First let me thank Phil and the rest of the group. I've been here since October and have benefited immensely from the wealth of knowledge found here. I'm hoping that someone can look at my labs and let me know if they see any red flags or if my treatment is on track. About me: I'm 43 y.o. For YEARS I was suffering from extreme exhaustion. Primary problem is sleep related but in Oct. I went to an Endocrinologist and here's what he found (note the low Test and FSH): 10/19/09 TSH + Free T4 TSH 2.86 ref[.450 - 4.5] T4, Free (direct) 1.25 ref[.82 - 1.77] Test. Free +Weakly Bound Test, serum 275 ref[241 – 827] Test. % free + weakly bound 18.4 ref[9 – 46] Test free + weakly bound 50.6 ref[20 – 250] Thyroid Antibodies Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) a <5 ref[0 -34] Antithyroglobulin Ab Siemens (DPC) ICMA <20 ref[0 – 40] Luteinizing Hormone (LH), S LH 2.8 ref(adjusted by age) [1.5 – 9.3] FSH, Serum FSH 1.2 LOW ref(adjusted by age) [1.4 – 18.1] Prostate Specific Ag, Serum PSA Roche ECLIA 1.2 ref[0 – 4] Prolactin Prolactin 6.2 ref(age adjusted) [2.1 – 17.7] Triiodothyronine Triiodothyronine 2.9 ref[2 – 4.4] After getting these results, the doctor put me on Testim 1 tube per day. I went back to him on 12/4/09 and here's what he found: Comp. Metabolic Panel (14) Glucose serum 80 ref[65 – 99] BUN 16 ref[5 – 26] Creatinine, Serum 1.14 ref[.76 – 1.27] eGFR > 59 ref[ > 59] BUN/Creatinine Ratio 14 ref[8 – 27] Sodium, Serum 139 ref[135 – 145] Potassium, Serum 4.0 ref[3.5 – 5.2] Chloride, Serum 102 ref[97 – 108] CO2 , Total 24 ref[20 – 32] Calcium, Serum 9.7 ref[8.5 – 10.6] Protein, total, serum 6.4 ref[6.0 – 8.5] Albumin, Serum 4.3 ref[3.5 – 5.5] Globulin, Total 2.1 ref[1.5 – 4.5] A/G Ratio 2.0 ref[1.1 – 2.5] Bilirubin, Total .6 ref[.1 – 1.2] Alkaline Phosphatase, S 59 ref[25 – 150] AST (SGOT) 23 ref[0 – 40] ALT (SGPT) 20 ref[0 – 55] Estradiol, Sensitive Estradiol, Sensitive 18 ref(age adjusted)[3 – 70] Test. Free +Weakly Bound Test, serum 356 ref[280 - 800] Test. % free + weakly bound 25 ref[9 – 46] Test free + weakly bound 89 ref[40 – 250] After these tests, he placed me on 2 tubes of Testim per day. I've been doing that since about Jan. and I don't feel a whole lot better. One thing I noticed is that FSH is low as well as sodium and blood sugar. Reading up on hypopituitarism, this looks like a weak ACTH deficiency. Any insight into this? Thanks in advance, Dave
