Guest guest
Biancka, please be careful w/ the Oxazepam -- it's in a class called Benzodiazepines, which is a different from the SSRI's that are prescribed for depression. Oxazepam is NOT an "anti-depressant"! It is a "sedative" or "anti-anxiety" medication -- it's prescribed to calm someone down when they're anxious/upset. Since you're already sleeping too much, you should NOT be taking a sedative -- that could wind up making you feel WORSE instead of better. I found this information which you should be aware of:Controlled studies have shown that eating diets low in calories, protein, and carbohydrates can reduce the elimination of oxazepam from the body and increase the amount of time it remains in the blood.2 3 On the other hand, research indicates that certain foods, such as Brussels sprouts and cabbage, might reduce blood levels of oxazepam and increase the removal of the drug.4 Further research is needed to determine whether certain foods and diets can result in significant changes in the effectiveness or safety of oxazepam. also this (I remember you mentioned asthma before):tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you are taking, especially antihistamines; digoxin (Lanoxin); levodopa (Larodopa, Sinemet); medication for depression, seizures, Parkinson's disease, pain, asthma, colds, or allergies; muscle relaxants; oral contraceptives; phenytoin (Dilantin); probenecid (Benemid); rifampin (Rifadine); sedatives; sleeping pills; theophylline (Theo-Dur); tranquilizers; and vitamins. These medications may add to the drowsiness caused by oxazepam. I remember you also mentioned being concerned about taking antidepressant medication b/c you didn't want to become addicted. Oxazepam is considered to be habit-forming (addictive), whereas many/most of the SSRI-type drugs don't have that problem. More detailed info is available here: http://www.wholehealthmd.com/refshelf/drugs_view/0,1524,468,00.html Oxazepam isn't going to make you feel "better" -- it's going to drug you into a stupor so you aren't aware of how you feel, and it can affect your ability to care for your son. I usually find relatively good information about various drugs here:http://www.mentalhealth.com/ -- click on "medications" on the left side of the page, then surf through the list. (NOTE: Not all the drugs are "officially" used for mental health... be sure to read the Pharmacology and Indications headings to make sure it's used to treat depression!) Some suggestions to discuss w/ your doctor: Amitriptyline ; Citalopram Hydrobromide ; Venlafaxine ; Nortriptyline ; Paroxetine ; Sertraline ; Protriptyline. (brand names and availability will vary) Please look into this... you deserve the RIGHT treatment!Debbi in MI For now, things are a bit better. I do still have that choking feeling but it looks like I am getting used to it. I am also taking oxazepam (anti-depressant meds) which do calm me down. It was an old prescription so I have to go to my regular doc for a new batch. Not sure if she will give me some though. But....I still have 2 weeks before I run out. It is all a waiting-game now. I had such high hopes when I had given birth that I would be eating again soon. 6 months later and I still am not eating like I was before my pregnancy. Wonder if I ever will (even my doc today said again 'no garantuees') Grrrrr. Hugs, Biancka

Guest guest
Good. Thanks. I just clicked the email icon near your name. An email window opened, but when I sent the email posted it as a message rather than a PM. The sanitized version of my email to you is as follows: My doc is a leader in TRT and lectures at one of the finest medical schools in the US. But he as been unresponsive to my requests and does not provide all the treatment options I would like. So I'm still looking. > > > > > > > From: cylonhippy <cylonhippy@> > > > > Subject: My doc > > > > > > > > Date: Wednesday, December 8, 2010, 3:06 PM > > > > I'm not sure you saw this before, but > > > > my doc is Morgentaler. Guest guest
Anybody know of a good TRT physician practicing in the WA/ID/OR area? Preferably Spokane due to the driving, but would be willing to see someone in Portland or Seattle on an ongoing basis. Spokane is 2 hrs, Seattle and Portland are 6 hrs from home. My home is 50,000, so I am sure nobody knows how to treat Klinefelter's. Money is a factor, so like most people, can't just fly anywhere for treatment. My GP said my blood panel was fine. 4.11 ng/ml for T, 29.8 for Estradiol pg/ml. In other words, T is on the low end, Estradiol is high. Guest guest
Where are you? Sandpoint, ID? Here is someone recommended on another group. I do not personally have experience with him, so I would certainly call and ask numerous questions before making an appt. Have they even heard of Klinefelter's, do they prescribe testosterone for men, will they monitor estradiol, etc. http://www.integmedassoc.com/staff.php?find_id=1 Good luck! Guest guest
I am in ton, ID which is 2 hrs south of Spokane. Three hours south of Sandpoint. Not gorgeous like Sandpoint, but the climate in the winter is great. We are a huge retirement area due to our weather. I appreciate your info. Thank you so much! Guest guest
I called this practice. They don't treat Klinefelter's. Gave me another doc in Spokane. I called and tried to ask info. Wouldn't tell me anything, just have my Family doc refer me. Great! Is this typical? How can I break through to talk to someone to find out if they are any good? You know the drill. . . Guest guest
Mike, Best thing I can tell you is read in the files section " Finding a Male Hormone Dr. " then start calling Compounding Pharmacy's like College and ask for the name and number of Dr.'s in your area that buy Testosterone meds from them. http://www.collegepharmacy.com/menshealth/andropause.asp ANEWrx 523 Parkway View Drive Pittsburgh, PA 15205 877-788-8908 (ph) 877-788-8948 (fax) Monday - Friday (9am - 6pm) Saturday 10am - 2pm www.ANEWrx.com Then call the Dr. ask how many men do they treat for low T and if they test and treat for high Estradiol levels and use Arimidex to being down high levels. Also ask if the check to see why the man is low and if he is Secondary will they use HCG. Guest guest
Hi , I am 53 and started HRT about one month ago with a doctor at the Tahoma Clinic in Renton WA. Since starting his treatment program I feel 1000 percent better than before. This is Dr 's practice and he does an hour show every week on KVI in Seattle. I couldn't afford to see Dr so I see one of his many doctors who practice at his clinic in Renton, about half the price of seeing Dr if you can even get an appointment, ... he is so popular and backed up it's all but impossible to see him. Anyway even if you don't want to make the trip to Renton, you could call them and see if they could recommend anyone in your area. Here is a link to the Tahoma Clinic http://www.tahomaclinic.com/ They have an 800 number under 'Contact Us " link. Good luck to you. ________________________________ From: McKay <michael.mckay@...> Sent: Thu, December 9, 2010 9:26:37 AM Subject: RE: My doc I called this practice. They don't treat Klinefelter's. Gave me another doc in Spokane. I called and tried to ask info. Wouldn't tell me anything, just have my Family doc refer me. Great! Is this typical? How can I break through to talk to someone to find out if they are any good? You know the drill. . .
