My mom is taking wellbutrin right now to stop smoking. She quit cold

turkey the same day she started the wellbutrin. She has not smoked

one cigarette in 2 weeks.

I quit smoking 2 weeks ago as well. However, I am not taking anything

for it either. Just went cold turkey with a lot of will power.

However, I realize will power isn't enough for most people to quit.

Jacquie,

I am on 200 to 300 mgs a day depending on the type of day. It has cut

my desire down from a pack a day to 1 or 3 (it's a ocd thing} a day.

You might not be able to quit by your brithday but your cravings

should be way down.

Tom,

Well;that will be better than nothing. Another improvement for me is that

usually I by a carton every 1 1/2 but I am still on the same carton from 3

weeks ago. I feel good about that.....I am still shooting for my birthday.

but if not it's okay cause I am making a step in the right direction by

quitting. My youngest is so happy about me trying to quit....That too is

motivation enough for me to quit....

Thanks Tom

Perhaps the stimulant effect is useful when one is losing the

combined stimulant/relaxation effect of nicotine, but the history of

the drug is as I said it--not because people didn't want to take an

antidepressant, but because it was incorrectly associated with

seizure risk, given a bad rap, and dthey had to reinvent the drug,

and that's how they did it. I dont trust pharma studies anyway, they

are often corrupt (look at all the info that is finally comjing out

about SSRI's now that has been suppressed). For instnace, because

there are so many SSRI's out there, all very similar, they market

them to different niches. They market luvox for OCD. When they are

goinig to lose a patent on one, say celexa, they slightly alter its

chemical structure and rename it (now, lexapro) and make claims for

it that cannot be substantiated--basically in order not to lose their

market share to a generic...

Anyway, of all the antidepressants around today, it seems the least

toxic, and if it helps someone get off cigarettes, that's good.

there is a muscle testing book by donald lepore called 'the ultimate healing

system'

he mentions a possible remedy for smoking which is niacinamide. it has

something to do with the nicacinamde being a mirror image molecule of

nicotinic acid and this will satisfy some people's nicotine addiction.

Jill, Wanda & interested others,

Having been an Herbalist for over 40 years (I'm 61) and having seen

Lobelia Tincture WORK Time after Time, I'd HIGHLY recommend taking

this POWERFUL Herb to STOP the Addiction of Tobacco!

http://www.sambiser.com/discoveries/1.lungcancer.html

There are some VERY SERIOUS Uses for Lobelia Tincture (see below),

among which are Asthma Attacks, Epileptic Seizures and Parkinson's

Tremors. Our Government has tried to BAN this Herb, but for NOW,

it's STILL AVAILABLE to us.

http://healingtools.tripod.com/lobemerg.html

I'd also recommend taking Dr. Schulze's Nerve Formula, which also has

Valerian Root, which is a POWERFUL Nervine, among it's various Herbal

Ingredients.

Please see Nerve Sedative and Anti-Spasmodic Tonic.

http://members.tripod.com/healingtools/nrvtncs.html

If you're interested in obtaining Dr. Schulze's Clinical-Strength

Lobelia Tincture and/or his Nerve Formula, then call Dr. Schulze's

American Botanical Pharmacy (800/437-2362) and/or go to his Website

below.

http://www.800herbdoc.com/abp_800x600.asp

A few years ago, I wrote this SHORT Article about Tobacco, which has

Information, that MOST People don't know about this Nightshade

Vegetable.

" THANKS " for your time and interest!

Wellbutrin is still being prescribed in the USA.

It was also prescribed instead of Zyban,

same drug - different name, when there was a

push for people in the '90's to use Zyban for

smoking cessation because several insurance companies

would not approve smoking cessation drugs, so

Wellbutrin was prescribed and insurance-approved

instead. Same-same.

Congratulations! You now have a medicated family. Wellbutrin was already

taken off the market once because of its deadly side effects. You're really

fooling yourself if you think that these drugs really work and produce a

positive

effect and that that effect outweighs the silent damage this drug is doing to

your loved ones' brains and overall health. There is no clinical proof of

ADD. I'm sorry that you resorted to such a dangerous drug to treat your family.

I hope your wife doesn't have a massive stroke like my sister did while on

Wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin can make you sleepy and help with sleep so you want to take it at

night. You only take it once a day so it stays with you so you don't need to

worry about that part. You just don't want to be zonked all day and awake all

night (unless you work graveyard-lol). so yes, you take it once daily but it

should say take " one daily at bedtime " . Hope it helps with everything.

I took Wellbutrin several years ago and had a horrible time with it. First,

it made my blood pressure go up. The biggest thing tho is that I was very

weepy while I was on it. I had times when I was not depressed but if anyone

looked at me wrong or if I started to think about stuff, I would cry. I was

on it for about 6 months and finally I just refused to take it so I was

prescribed something else. Lexapro is the best antidepressant I have ever

taken. I've been on it for a year now and I have been completely depression

free since last July when my P-doc upped me to 30mg. I'm a totally

different person now. It's really cool.

I have been on Lex for 1 year for anxiety. My insurance just changed and its

very expensive so they want to change me to something? I have no idea what

to do or try. Does anyone on here know anything about the side effects of

Wellbutrin? Thanks!
