Guest guest
I am sorry, but I don't know anything about Welbutrin. I did want to mention though, that for my daughter, she got much worse initially on Risperdal until we were able to get her dose up to a high enough level that made the difference for her. Could it be the same type of issue with the Abilify? We tried dropping my daughter's Risperdal due to weight gain and after about 4 weeks on the lower dose, she really started struggling. We then added a small amount of Abilfy to her Rsierpdal and Zoloft and she is now doing great. I hope you find something that works soon. I hope they drop or change it. He had a bad experience with Risperdal also.
Guest guest
Hi Pat. I use to take wellbutrin for depression (not ocd) and the first couple of weeks it made me dizzy. I ended up going off of it because it made me feel too anxious. I hear that wellbutrin is usually not prescribed for ocd. Everyone is different and you said it is working for your nephew, so go figure! It will be interesting to see how many kids are on wellbutrin. My dd(15) who has ocd is on luvox and buspar. She functions very well and is willing to do exposures when needed. I guess the key is finding the right med and if he will do erp, then he will improve alot! Good luck! Guest guest
> Hi all--has anyone had experience with Wellbutrin for their child? Hi Pat, My son had terrible motion sickness and dizziness the 2nd day he was on Wellbutrin and following day, when I took him off of it. I didn't know if the dizziness was from the wellbutrin or a withdrawal symtom from the celexa he had quickly tapered off of. When the p-doc didn't return my call, and his pediatrician couldn't answer the question, I took it upon myself to stop the wellbutrin. It looks like it was the wellbutrin, because by the 2nd day off it (yesterday), he felt only a little dizzy in the AM, then he felt pretty good the rest of the day. I also tried wellbutrin a few years ago too, and had to go off of it the second day because it made me dizzy too. I've been on several antidepressants, and the only ones that made me dizzy were wellbutrin and prozac. Tamara
Guest guest
Hi Sue C. I'm on both right now. I started taking Wellbutrin a couple of months ago. I'm on 30mg Lexapro in the eventing and 300mg Wellbutrin XL in the morning. I definitely have more energy with the Wellbutrin. The only thing I'm struggling with right now with the combo of meds is a lack of appetite. I didn't have much appetite for the few months before I started the Wellbutrin but now it's worse. Jen > > My doc may be adding Wellbutrin to my Lexapro as I have been depressed again. I'm just wondering if anyone here is taking Wellbutrin with their Lex ? If so, how much Lex are you on and how much Wellbutrin ? do you find you have more energy with the combination of the 2 than just the Lex ? Thanks,Sue C > > _______________________________________________ > No banners. No pop-ups. Guest guest
I am taking 10 mg of Lexapro and 150 mg of Wellbutrin XL. The lexapro was making me a sloth no matter when I took it. It's hard to say because it's only been 2 weeks since the Wellbutrin was added, and I've had a bad cold/sinus infection/ear infection from h*** for the last 2 weeks, but it seems I've got more stamina to make it through my day and I'm not yawning all the time. This cold just needs to go away....was in the ER tonite because of ear pain /drainage and found out I blew out my eardrum...lovely! I'm having a hard time keeping track of my meds now...Wellbutrin, Lex, Oral antibiotic, pain meds, cipro eardrops and decongestants - both oral and nasal...whew! Guest guest
Yeah the lexapro didn't help my energy level, either. Wellbutrin bumped the energy right up. But it sounds like the sinus/ear infection you've got could knock out an elephant! I hope the meds for that starts kicking in soon. Hope you feel better soon, Jen My doc may be adding Wellbutrin to my Lexapro as I have been depressed again. I'm just wondering if anyone here is taking Wellbutrin with their Lex ? Guest guest
I am on 20mg Lexapro and 150mg of Wellbutrin XL. I hope to lose the appetite. I gained 15 lbs while on Lexapro 20. I didn't gain any when I was on Lexapro 10. I hope I lose some weight soon. The weight just added the depressions and low self esteem. > > > > My doc may be adding Wellbutrin to my Lexapro as I have been > depressed again. Guest guest
I take Wellbutrin and I would not stop taking it for the world - I have not had any problems with this med - my husband also takes it and helps him allot also. I works for my depression.........I give it the thumbs up.............I cant go a day without it - without it I want to crawl in a corner and cry - and never stop or run away and cry...........but with it = it helps take the edge off of everything.......... I take 300mg a day I think.........some days I sure wish I took more but overall it's been good for me............ Hope that helps........... Diane ________________________________ From: Runyan <monandreamichelle@...> Sent: Fri, May 21, 2010 9:37:17 AM Subject: [ ] Wellbutrin  I've been having some depression and anhedonia lately, probably due to herxing, since it feels like a 100% body thing (my thoughts are happy, but my brain still feels down and unable to experience much pleasure). I've been taking St. 's wort and DMG (dimethylglycine) for depression, but it hasn't been enough lately. Upon request, my doctor gave me a scrip for Wellbutrin SR. Does anyone on here have experience with Wellbutrin? I'm concerned by how the drug info says the risk of seizures is increased if it's given in cases of " CNS infection. " Isn't that what we have? I'm debating whether to even try the Wellbutrin, given that I'd have to stop taking the St. 's wort to try it, and given that it might be a seizure risk given my other health conditions. But I could sure use some depression help. Maybe the Tinidazole is contributing to my feeling bad; I've been feeling depressed while taking Tinidazole for a few weeks. Thanks,

Guest guest
Really? I've been taking 5-HTP and SJW together for years with no ill effects. Both support serotonin, but they do it from opposite ends of the pipeline. 5-HTP works up front as a serotonin precursor -- basically, if your body decides to make its own serotonin, this ensures you've got the basic groceries on board for that. SJW works the other end of the line by inhibiting serotonin uptake, thus ensuring it stays circulating in your system instead of getting metabolized out. There is such a thing as serotonin overload (BTDT), so you have to be careful about this stuff and work your way into it. But 5-HTP is self-limiting: if your body doesn't need to make serotonin, it will pass out of your system unused. This helps mitigate the possibility that you'll get overloaded. Guest guest
Magnesium is required for the proper production of Seratonin in the body. If you are not supplementing with magnesium, you might want to try it. There are many people using magnesium as a handling for depression. > > I've been having some depression and anhedonia lately, probably due to > herxing, since it feels like a 100% body thing (my thoughts are happy, but > my brain still feels down and unable to experience much pleasure). > > I've been taking St. 's wort and DMG (dimethylglycine) for depression, > but it hasn't been enough lately. Guest guest
, I also get depressed when I take Tinidazole for a couple of weeks (I pulse it). It even over-rides my anti-depressant dose. Talk to your doctor about the Wellbutrin. I think it's o.k., but I take Cymbalta and have never taken Wellbutrin. I bet if you went off the Tinidazole the depression would lift within 48 hours. That's what I've found with a couple of the antibiotics. Janet
