Guest guest
I am looking for a good endo in Boston. I understand this question is asked often but I have searched posts for hours and only found 2 local endos by name, I called one but panel was closed. The other Dr Gilbert s at MGH was in the database. If anyone has used him pls let me know what the experience has been like, or if people dont want to use names on the board maybe we could email direct? Like most I am very fearful of wasting time with a too conservative not thoughtful Doc. I know Dr s is highly respected but MGH strikes me as stodgy/conservative and I am concerned they wont treat me unless I have a tumour or cancer (am thinking this is idiopathic secondary hypogonadism). I would go right to a highly rated urologist in town but I had elevated cortisol and wanted to get 2nd opinion before I decide there is no root cause we should be working on. Actually it will really be a first opinion my current endo couldnt be more bothered than to have to treat me and think about this. I turned 40 in July and have been very symptomatic for the last year (severe fatigue, fog, ed, sleep etc) just a waste of a year. I tested 243 testosterone at Brigham (bottom of thier range is 222) had slightly above the range cortisol, below the range FSH and low normal LH. She called me left voicemail everything looks great no problems here, bye. I called back and debated endo guidelines she agreed to therapuetic trial testim 5mg, it worked immediately and great for all of 2.5 - 3 weeks (alhtough my follow up was scheduled for 3 mos later - btw thanks Phil wouldnt have probly called had I not seen your post on this phenom, thats huge). got her to take blood again at 4 weeks test was 181. upped me to 7.5mg, it has been 3.5 weeks since and am better than bottom but still feel bad. called and asked to do labs so we can up dose if we are going to do it, she said no too soon, see u the 28th. Will spare u the details but suffice it to say that it has been like pulling teeth, zero regard for my plight (not asking for a hug but blood work, timely treatment and thoughtful consideration of treatment would be nice). Becasue she was going to blow me off we never adequately explored the cause, and as far as alternatives to testim i didnt dare ask her about cloimid because I was more desperate to feel better and felt i had inconvenienced her and rocked the boat enough, was thrilled to get trial. So, I am still feeling bad and time is my enemy at work and at home, really dont want to screw around with someone who is not a thoughtful type with respect to hypogonadism and then find myself looking for a new doc in a couple months. Sorry for the vent, I know this experience is old hat but thought I would vent/share and am hoping someone has some intel for me on Boston area endos. thanks in advance.
