Guest guest
I wish I had a file of Dumb Things Dr. tell men as to why they have low testosterone. This one tops them all. Get a copy of your labs and post them don't go on TRT until you figure out why your so low. If you do it will shut down your Pituitary from sending the LH and FSH messages to your Testis and they will stop making there own testosterone. This makes it dam hard to find out why your low. Here are some of the things that can cause this problem from this link. http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=450553 Other things I have seen is poor diet trying to lose body fat for bodybuilding. Eating or drinking a lot of SOY. Stress is a big one and High Iron levels. What you can do is see if you can get your family Dr. to work with Dr. over the phone to test and treat you he dose this and is one of the best Dr.'s for this problem. www.allthingsmale.com If you go there read TRT: A Recipe for Success in this are labs you needed and why. ==================================================== As you will see on the following site, as many as 50% of all men may have low levers of testosterone. According to the Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab, these are the causes of hypogonadism: chronic/systemic illness surgery chemotherapy infections premature aging testicular trauma stress Kleinfelter's syndrome autoimmune damage tobacco and alcohol sleep apnea excessive heat obesity hypercortisolism medications hyperthyroidism malnutrition ?Subtle clinical signs of hypogonadism may include slight gynecomastia and soft small testes. However, researchers have noted that " the findings of physical examination in men with adult-onset hypogonadism are often normal.? Secondary hypogonadism can develop as a result of hypothalamic or pituitary disease, obesity, hypothyroidism or other causes. Some conditions, such as hypercortisolemia, AIDS and severe systemic illnesses, can trigger hypogonadism through a combination of both primary and secondary mechanisms.? Guest guest
Post your labs. Don't go on TRT unless you need it. I'm 26 and went on TRT and I didn't need it. Don't go on it unless you really have to. Guest guest
Are you in the phila area? Talk to hardasnails and dr overbeck they can find out if you are promary or secondary...I was about to go onto hrt but turns out my issue was with dairy consumption..that was screwong me up.. Sent from my Verizon Wireless BlackBerry 20 yr old with Hypogonadism? Hi all, I was recently diagnosed with low testosterone after suffering from fatigue, depression, and low libido for some time. The thing is, I'm only 20 years old. The doctor said it was analogous to menopause in women, to which I responded I'd never heard of a 20 year old woman with menopausal symptoms. He said it's possible. Is it? I'm worried there's in fact something wrong with my pituitary gland or I have cancer-- that this is a secondary symptom of something else given my age. Has anyone here been diagnosed at such a young age, or found out that their low testosterone was symptomatic of something else? Also, will I be permanently unable to conceive with replacement therapy? I know these are questions I should ask my doctor (I did), but despite being at a top ten teaching hospital he seems pretty naive. Perhaps a second opinion is in line. Guest guest
Have you had any head trauma that you can remember? I was 25 when I began having symptoms of andropause (hypogonadism). Mine resulted from 6 concussions I got while playing rugby in college.
