Hi, Sal,

Can't say if this particular vendor is reputable, etc., but saliva

tests the free fraction of the hormone that is in the cells, so in a

sense, it is the most effective form of testing.

A 4x day cortisol rhythm saliva test is the best way to test for

adrenals, because you will know specifically what is happening

throughout the day.

Let us know about your experience with this lab. I know that there

are several people looking for this type of service in the UK on the

Natural Thyroid Hormones forum.

Good luck!

Warmly,

Hi

Yes I will let everyone know. You're right. It is so difficult to

find anyone in the uk to do testing. The website wasn't very good

which made me a bit wary. But it is a lab so maybe that's why.

They do a couple of different thyroid tests. I think i will try that

before doing the adrenal. I'm not sure if they do the one you are

talking about. If i can get the link right i'll put it back on

forum so anyone can have a look or pass to other forums looking for

a uk lab. Maybe i could get them to send the test kit and ask if i

can pay when i send it back. That way i don't have to give out card

details. That's what i do with my hair mineral test.

Thanks for your imput.

+++Hi Collette. That is quite the dilemma. Can you simply tell your

doctor you are on a good nutrition program, and not go into details

about having candida? Otherwise you may need to find a doctor who is

more understanding.

+++Here they have walk-in clinics, so I could go to any one of them

without explaining much, and just ask for thyroid tests. Of course

they might ask if you have a regular doctor, but it may be possible to

avoid the question.

I hope that helps you my friend. I can't think of anything else.

++++Collette,

There are places online where you can pay to have your thyroid tested.

Check the canary labs website. You can order blood spot testing

through ZRT or Diagnos-techs. Hope that helps.

I do not think there is a better time of day but you do not want to take your

thyroid meds until AFTER your labs.

I am too fatigued but will later. Is there a time of day when it's best to test

for thyroid? I just found out that for testosterone testing for my son it should

have been done first thing in the morning. That was after the fact, of course!!

UGH!! so what about the thyroid?

So, should I begin testing my thyroid after being on the diet for 8 months or do

I begin right now? Once I start testing, I continue every 6 weeks or so?

> In California a doctor has to prescribe a lab request in order for a person to

+++Hi Collette. You want to be totally off thyroid meds when you have been on

this program for 8 months since that is when your thyroid will most likely

recover/normalize.

I think you should get the 1st test done after you've been on this program for 5

months, and then get the 2nd test at 7 months - that's so you have less testing.

If your test isn't yet normal at 7 months, it just means your thyroid was out of

whack longer than 8 years ago, so you will have to take that into consideration

and continue getting tests.

All the best, Bee

Thyroid test are only 30% right and that is the most extreme cases. I have low thyroid, most all symptoms even losing hair but conventional tests say I do not have an issue. Basal tests show I have a low thyroid. Anyone in the medical field with half a brain would know I do. To be treated I have had to go to a Naturopathic doctor.

Ok...I am a new member...I joined just before all the posts about "stuff" started flying....

Needless to say I decided to keep a low profile for a while...LOL

Now you seem to have sorted it out...I will jump in and introduce myself...and then you can ask me to leave if you wish...

My name is Maureen and I live in Australia... .I do not have Fibromyalgia [which is why you might not let me stay...]

However my son does have it...He is not very good at finding his way around the computer so I am knocking my head against a brick wall trying to find something to help him....

He lives at home with us now and is on disability support because of the fibro...

He contracted two very nasty debilitating viruses which has resulted in the fibro.....He is over these now....

He is not sleeping, even with sleeping pills from the doctor and no pain medication is working either.....

The only things that do help are natural supplements like magnesium powder, vit C and liquid herbs that support the immune system but even so he is in constant pain and exhausted all the time.....

We eat a lot of veggies, fish, some chicken and very little red meat...I have bought a reverse osmosis water purifier and we are eliminating chemicals wherever we can....

I hope you let me stay because I think I could learn from your experiences. ..

Product Description

Thyroid function tests are performed by essentially all medical

practitioners across every clinical setting. Significant insights have

been gained into thyroid regulation and thyroid hormone metabolism

that influence the selection and interpretation of thyroid function

tests. The first section of the book presents the recent advances in

thyroid physiology and a discussion of genetic influences on thyroid

function tests. The population variation in the TSH " set point " , now

thought to be genetically determined, influences the evaluation of

thyroid function and thyroid function " targets " for treatment of

thyroid disease. The basics of thyroid function measurements,

approaches, limitations, and clinical applications will be described

for the major categories of thyroid function tests. Application of

thyroid function testing to the key clinical settings are discussed,

including in the management of thyroid diseases. The influences of

drugs on thyroid function testing remains a major clinical issue and

is covered in a separate chapter and the issue of thyroid function

test screening is also discussed. The authors represent leaders in

research and thyroid clinical practice as well as representing a

variety of outstanding institutions. This volume provides material

that is clinically practical and informed by the most recent

scientific advances.
