Guest guest
It's not about gel but TRT if you have low levels of Testosterone first you need to find out why your low if the problem can't be fixed you go on TRT doing shots or gels. If you want to try staying off TRT because your feeling better I can't see any harm in doing this but when and if you start to feel bed you might need to go back on it. We have one man here that was on gels not doing all that great he seen a new Dr. a Uro this Dr. took him off TRT and put him on Arimidex to get his Estradiol levels down once this got down his T levels came back up it was the high Estraidol levels that gave him low T. This link talks about this problem it's for older men but I see this happen to younger men. http://jcem.endojournals.org/cgi/content/full/89/3/1174 http://www.medibolics.com/ArimidexBoostsTestosterone.htm Co-Moderator Phil > From: <gibcast@...> > Subject: E2 > " " < > > Date: Saturday, August 21, 2010, 11:14 AM > How fast does it fall when I quit gel > like I did? Guest guest
Hello Phil, My testosterone story is simple: I had low testosterone in my teens when I came to my first hypo-doctor. He was joking " there's almost no man left in you! " and I was shocked to hear that at age 18. I was put on T4, and lost 100 lbs in 1 year, and felt and looked amazing in the next 10 years. Now, while on optimal thyroid treatment in that period, we saw my testosterone rise - AS IT IS WELL KNOWN that optimal thyroid gets testosterone working again. BUT I guess this is not true for those who are truly Hypogonadic. I have no idea what's wrong with me - Could I have Hypogonadism if my testosterone went up with optimal thyroid between 1997 and 2007? Those were my " healthy years " while on thyroid-only treatment. All I know is that my Equipment works great now while OFF of the TRT. My E2 levels were low and perfect before TRT was started, so that can't be the reason for low testosterone. Looking at my bloodwork again, from February 2010, before I was put on TRT: TOTAL Testosterone: 3467 pg/mL (Range: 3000 - 10,000 pg/mL)FREE Testosterone: 153 pg/mL (Range: 50 - 280 pg/mL)BOUND Testosterone: 95.6 % So, I was given Testosterone based on the TOTAL which was very low, and the FREE which wasn't very low BUT Hertoghe insisted that my levels, being only 31 yers of age, should be near the top range of the FREE. On the follow up appointment 4 months later in June, I had been taking Testosterone gel for 3 months. The results looked like this: TOTAL Testosterone: 9851 pg/mL (Range: 3000 - 10,000 pg/mL)FREE Testosterone: 615 pg/mL (Range: 50 - 280 pg/mL)BOUND Testosterone: 93.8 % So, both the TOTAL and the FREE levels are insane. But doesn't the FREE one look way too high? I didn't put the gel on in the evening 3 nights before the blood draw as per Hertoghes insctructions, only 2 nights, so he thought the level was falsely elevated in these result. That's why he decided to stick with 2 pumps (2000 mg gel, a total of 200 mg testosterone) daily for me. I soooo wanna solve my riddle. I guess that sub-optimal thyroid since January 2008 when the Endo's here in Norway started weening me off of all thyroid meds (T4 and T3), has made my testosterone sink. Also a total lack of exercise due to Adrenal Fatigue, and HC-treatment, has made it sink as well. Most docs in Norway say I don't need any medications, replacements nor supplements (vits/mins) at ALL. They say I am keeping myself falsely-sick (false Hypo and AF from taking Thyroid meds and HC, etc.!) by popping pills. It is wayyyyy too heavy on my mental state to hear that all the time. That's why I wanna do the right decisions now. I wanna be treated IF I NEED treatment. But if I can do without, I wanna be without. > From: <gibcast@...> > Subject: E2 > " " < > > Date: Saturday, August 21, 2010, 11:14 AM > How fast does it fall when I quit gel > like I did? Guest guest
Tom you had low Testosterone back then and went on T4 Thyroid meds and your levels came back up. I hear some Dr.'s say low Thyroid will lower T levels in men and treating the Thyroid brings T levels back up. So the Dr.'s that took you off T4 Thyroid meds might have put you right back where you started from. I am not a Dr. but it sure looks like this is what might have happened. Dr. M at this forum treats Thyroid and Adrenals first to see if T levels will come back up before putting the men on TRT. You might get some answers if you post about your problem at his forum. http://www.definitivemind.com/forums/index.php Co-Moderator Phil > > > > > From: <gibcast@...> > > > Subject: E2 > > > " " > < > > > > Date: Saturday, August 21, 2010, 11:14 AM > > > How fast does it fall when I quit gel > > > like I did?
