Guest guest
Without knowing what cholesterol meds you're using, I can't speak to that. Testosterone replacement therapy can initially reduce HDL, but levels normally return to normal levels after a while. Men with low testosterone do have a higher incidence of heart disease than men with normal levels. It can be somewhat confusing. One thing that helped my cholesterol profile quite a bit was eliminating refined carbohydrates, reducing polyunsaturated fats and increasing saturated fats. ________________________________ From: surfingmedicman22 <no_reply > Sent: Sun, April 18, 2010 12:49:35 PM Subject: TRT and Cholesterol issues?? I'm new to all of this and I may start TRT soon. I'm confused though about people with High cholesterol and low testosterone. I'm 36 and have been on cholesterol meds for the last few years. I'm not overweight, don't smoke, don't drink much but high cholesterol runs in my family. The thing is though that my meds for this haven't helped a whole lot since I started on them. Can low testosterone be a factor in those with high cholesterol. Also I've read that TRT can lower the HDL " good " levels which which would be bad in my case. It also states though that TRT can help in reduction of heart disese. This info is confusing as it sort of contradicts itself. Anyone have any info about the relationship between cholesterol and low test. and if this should be a deciding factor in whether or not I start TRT therapy or not? Thanks. Guest guest
I found the same thing with my dietary changes.Eliminated fruit which I ate a lot of and triglycerides dropped below 40 from over 200.I eat a lot of fatty steaks and pork and very little carbs. My lipids have never been better.Eating low fat kept me fat and had my HDL down and VLDL high. Also went from around 270lbs to under 200lbs.Go figure. We have been given some bogus info from " nutrition experts " . > > Without knowing what cholesterol meds you're using, I can't speak to that. Guest guest
Doesn't the TRT make it so? I'm glad you are doing well Phil. You endured a lot in your life for many years, which most people would have simply gave up. It speaks a lot about your character and your resolve.
