Guest guest
Hi Ade What was your ferritin level? Sky ________________________________ From: Ade Rowley <spadeboy@...> Hypogonadism2 < > Sent: Tue, 9 February, 2010 10:02:52 AM Subject: An Update / Questions  cabergoline 1mg per week Testogel (2 sachets per day) ferrous sulphate 200mg tds The endo is not happy for me to discontinue treatment with ferrous sulphate. Although the usual therapy is six months, he advised that it takes much longer than this to get the levels up. He did suggest reducing the dose to 2 pills per day but as I am not experiencing side effects with them, he would like the therapy to continue at 3 pills per day until further notice. According to him, this could be years. More recently I have been diagnosed with pernicious anaemia. I doubt by GP would ever have spotted this, but the endo has done a fine job of it and from this point forward I will receive B12 shots. I do these myself. At the moment I am doing these every other day but eventually I will do them on a three monthly basis (just one shot every three months). Guest guest
Hi Ade, I am on cypress Ferrous Fumarate 324 mg, Tablets and it we feel is due to Thyroid and or low Folic Acid levels called Folate Deficiency Anaemia. http://hcd2.bupa.co.uk/fact_sheets/html/anaemia_folate.html I have been on the iron pill for 3 yrs now when I first tested my Ferritin levels they were below normal. I take 212 mgs of Elemental Iron /day this works for me but I also take Vit.C with it. http://www.myvitanet.com/supbiocbuf36.html When I tested my folic acid levels I was on folic acid and tested below normal. So my body does not make Folate from the Folic acid supplements so I now take Folacal from Thorne Research and my levels are now in the mid range. We can't tell if this is working I had Heart Bypass sugary a yr ago and it went bad and I was out cold 17 weeks and had to be opened up 5 x's and each time they had to leave me open until the blood thinners they had me on was out of my body. So I lost a lot of blood. Dr.'s say it can take a good yr. or so for my blood to build back up. I don't know if you know this but before you do labs on Iron levels you need to stop the Iron pills about 5 days before you do the labs or the tests will look good or high. As for lowing your dose of gel don't do it if you did your labs just after putting on the gel doing this will spike up your labs and they can look dam high. The best way to do labs on gels is to get up do a good shower then go do the labs and put on the gel after the blood it taken. If you can't do this shower put on the gel but keep it off the area they take the blood from and do the blood draw 6 hrs later. If you did the labs wrong call your Dr. and tell him if your lower your dose your going to crash and feel like crap. The feeling of your penis going into hiding and look small in the soft state and feel cold is high estradiol levels you need to test this. One good way of telling if your to high is by your night time and morning wood if you don't have them your levels of Estradiol might be to high and doing this it will kill your sex life. IF you can find some Indolplex/DIM taking this supplement will bring down your Estradiol levels you can tell when they are in the sweet spot 20 pg/ml or 74 pmol/L you will get some strong night time and morning wood the kind that wakes you up. http://www.iherb.com/Enzymatic-Therapy-Pure-Rip-with-DIM-60-Tablets/12814?at=0 I do shots because I have a thyroid problem and it makes some men's skin thicker and gels don't get through the skin. Your much better off on gels if your levels for Total and Free T are up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and you can keep your Estradiol levels down. Guest guest
Hey there Phil / Lads Here is to wishing you all the best with the heart problems mate. I can only imagine how bad that time must have been for you. If it is any consolation, you really are the back-bone of this forum and that takes some strength of character I think - in short, keep up the good work but make sure you also take care of yourself. Re the iron labs - I was told to stop taking them one week before the blood test to check my levels. I believe that is the standard practice here. Mind you, the levels are only checked after the first three months to ensure there is an improvement taking place. If so, I do no think that many GP surgeries do constant checks. My endo wants another one in three months, but I think that is more so because he is a bit of a lab test freak (I mean that in a nice way). Re the T labs - my endo insists that I do not apply the gel before the test and that I wash that morning. He prefers the test to be done in the morning and is then happy for me to apply the gel. Of course, I forgot last time and told him so. Thus, this time what he is saying is that he would like the dose to be reduced, but has left this with me until my next set of lab tests. If - after these come back and I have ensured they are done properly - the results are still the same, then he will make it official and reduce the dose. Thank you for your take on the gels. On that I will stick to them and work with the endo to get them right. Now - lastly, this estradiol thing. Can I get the drug you mentioned on script? I get all of my meds on script as it is far easier for me. I have a pre-payment card so it works out cheap with the stuff I have go take. I am quite sure my endo would be receptive to this, given what you have told me. He did say last time that there is a lot more work to do, but wants this to happen one step at a time - you know, get one thing right first and then move on to the next. No morning or night wood here mate, so it looks like estradiol is the key. I do not get any other probs though - no fast heart beat or panic attacks. Still, everybody is different I guess. Thanks again Phil take care ade
