Guest guest
Please shed some light; My labs consistently show SHBG either just below range or barely above range. Meaning on the Lab Corp testing system I have been getting 13, 15.5, 17.1, 16.7, 20.1 with the range being 14.5- 48.4 My Question is can my SHBG be too low?? Likewise my relationship with other low indicators of DHEA, DHT. Recent Labs: Testosterone 756 249-836 DHEA 30 31-701 DHT 32 30-85 TSH 1.34 0.450-4.500 SHBG 20.1 14.5 - 48.4 E2 16.1 7.6-42.6 (nurse screwed up again and did the wrong test) Thyroxine (t4) 7.5 4.5-12.0 T3 uptake 30% 24-39 free thyroxine 2.3 1.2-4.9 What is missing in my understanding and practices?? Thanks,
Guest guest
, I don't see a problem here your SHBG will go up and down with your Estradiol. As your Estradiol E2 goes up so will SHBG and as SHBG goes up it binds up your Testosterone so it's not working your Free T. Back in the day the testing for E2 was what you had done I don't see a problem with this unless your on Arimidex or DIM trying to lower E2 and you need to know how low you are your on the low side so if your taking anything to lower E2 back off on the dose. As for DHEA your low test your Cortisol levels do a fasting morning blood test is it's under 15 get a 4 x's / day Saliva test to see how your rhythm looks. If you look at the stages of AI you will see DHEA goes up and and down as you read the later stages for AI. You needed to test your Free T3 and T4 for your Thyroid it's dam hard to find out how your doing by them labs. Also do Antibodies with Total T3 and T4. Test your pregnenolone and progesterone if low try Preg. cream to see if this will bring up your Prog. and DHEA levels. I would not worry about your DHT levels as others get leveled so will DHT and you don't need this to high. I feel you SHBG is good this is the levels mine are at they go from 20 to 22 testing every 8 weeks. http://www.chronicfatigue.org/ASI%201%20.html Co-Moderator Phil > From: <alexanderjones49@...> > Subject: SHBG LAB Concerns > > Date: Friday, April 15, 2011, 8:41 AM > Please shed some light; > > My labs consistently show SHBG either just below > range or barely above > range. Guest guest
SHBG rises with higher levels of T3 thyroid hormone. While you don't have a Free T3 lab, you have enough other thyroid labs for me to guess that your T3 is indeed low. SHBG helps extend the life of testosterone, so getting it higher will allow you to dose less frequently and have more stable levels.
