Guest guest
Dave, It's not just a cortisol issue, although that is the remedy for this. It is more about your bodies inability to handle inflammation. When you add T3, it passes through your gut and initiates an inflammatory response. Remember that you have a significant amount of white blood cells in your gut and white blood cells are responsible for activating inflammatory responses. So, you need to figure out why T3 is initiating this process in your gut. This could be do to inadequate stores of cortisol, or it could be that your pituitary gland can't send out the proper signals to control the inflammation, or it could be something nutritionally related like low iron or gluten sensitivity, etc. However, for the majority of people, it is a cortisol issue and HC remedies this. Guest guest
Are you on HC? From: Dave <dcbaden@...> Subject: Thyroid question: Why did I feel worse adding T3? Date: Monday, November 1, 2010, 6:11 AM Â I asked this on some of the thyroid boards and thought I'd post it here for a different point of view: My doc gave me some T3 to add to my T4 regimen. I felt TERRIBLE! Had to quit. Any ideas why this didn't work? Everything I've read says I should be doing better on T4/T3 than on T4 alone. I guessed that it was using more of my cortisol which is in low supply to begin with.

Guest guest
Dave what was the dose of T3 when I went on it I do 30 mgs of HC Cortef for low cortisol and I started at 5 mcgs/ day. If you are not on HC meds and don't know what your Cortisol levels are if low it will build up in your blood you need good Cortisol levels to carry the Thyroid hormones out of your blood into your cells. It would help if you told us how it made you feel. I when I feel hyper from to high a level of Thyroid meds I sweat much like I do when my Estradiol levels are to high I feel anxiety, my heart beats faster and my BP levels with my body temps go up. Guest guest
Phil, I'm am and was taking 8 pellets of Isocort / day. Plus an additional 10mg of cortef when needed (when I feel like I am in an adrenal dump). He started me on 10mcg of T3 / day in 2 doses of 5mcg each. I played with this a bit going as low as 5mcg / day. I felt as though I was in adrenal insufficiency similar to before I started taking any medication: exhaustion, needing 2 or more naps / day, no motivation, foggy thinking, etc. - also similar to hypothyroid symptoms. Guest guest
It might be your not on enough HC meds here is what I did to track my progress on HC meds. I took my Temps after I was up 3 hrs then every 3 hrs 3x's/day I added them up and div. by 3 this was my avg. temp. If your on HC meds and your temp avg. is going up or down more then 2ths your not on it long enough it can take up to 60 days to stablize on HC meds if after this time your not stablized you need more I had to go up from 20 mgs / day to 25 before I could start on Thyroid meds. It's all in this link and you can print out a chart to track your temps. http://www.drrind.com/therapies/metabolic-temperature-graph Co-Moderator Phil > From: Dave <dcbaden@...> > Subject: Re: Thyroid question: Why did I feel worse adding T3? > > Date: Monday, November 1, 2010, 12:15 PM > Phil, > > I'm am and was taking 8 pellets of Isocort / day.
