Guest guest
Bob I am not a Dr. so what I am going to tell you is what happened to me when I did this. Your levels when you got 1150 on 4 pumps was because you put the gel on first then did your labs. The gel spiked up your labs I am betting you were between 400 to 500 on your labs or less. Four pumps is a starting dose and I don't see men going high enough on this dose your drooped down to less then the starting dose. Go to http://www.androgel.com/prescribing_info.html and read Prescribing info. This is from there web site. ========================================================================== -----------------------DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION----------------------- • Recommended starting dose: 5 g for adult males, applied topically once daily (2.1). • Apply to clean, dry, intact skin of shoulders and upper arms and/or abdomen. Do NOT apply AndroGel to the genitals (2.1). • Dose adjustment for adult males: If serum testosterone level is below the normal range, adjust dose from 5 g to 7.5 g and from 7.5 g to 10 g (2.3). ----------------------DOSAGE FORMS AND STRENGTHS----------------------AndroGel (testosterone gel) 1% for topical use is available as: • 2 x 75 g pumps (each pump dispenses 60 metered 1.25 g doses) (3) • 2.5 g packet or 5 g packet (3) -------------------------------------------------------------------------- You lowered your dose and put your body in stress or you crashed. How do you feel on this lower dose. When one crash's stopping TRT or lowering there dose there body goes nuts trying to fix the problem. If I were you I would read the site and call your Dr. and stop the gels and do shots starting at 100 mgs / week. You need your levels of Total T and Free T up into the upper 1/3 of your labs range and I don't feel with your levels doing the gel the right way taking a shower and not puttin it on your levels are going to get up into the upper 1/3. You can do the shots your self at home we all do this or get your Dr. to up your dose to 7.5 grams or 6 pumps. He put you on all kinds of meds that you might not need if your levels were high enough. Here is what I tell men that go on Androgel and don't have high levels. =========================================================================== Yes this happens a lot you start on a low starting dose 5 grams when your brain sees the testosterone in your blood even just a little it slows down even stops sending the LH and FSH message to your testis to make the Testosterone you were making. So lets say your labs for Total T were 350 you add this dose of gel your brain sees this and you lose the base level you had before the gel. Now lets say you need more then 5 grams most do so now all your left with is what the gel is doing so lets say it's doing 200 so you lost 150. The reason you feel good is your levels go up that 200 the gel is doing in the first 2 weeks so your levels go up to 550 in theory. The brain sees this and you fall back. Why can this happen it might be how your putting on the gel with Androgel you need to spread it over your upper arms and shoulders and down your back as far as you can reach this is half of your dose then do the other side. Just spread it over the area but don't rub it in. The other thing is it's not getting through your skin good so you need more. If you have a thyroid problem your skin will become thicker and gels and creams don't get through the skin and you need to switch to shots. I tell men when they go on Gels to retest in 2 weeks because you can end up feeling worse. Most me just need more gel. Dr.'s that tell men to go on 5 grams of gel and come back in 8 to 12 weeks for labs don't know much about the use of gels. Dr.'s that treat a lot of men for low T on gels see this happen and test them again in 2 weeks. Call your Dr. and tell him this and that your not feeling good you were but fell back. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply and advise.  You really should write a book.  You could probably put one together with all the e-mails you've already written.  You must be a very disciplined person to do what you do.  Without a doubt, I'm sure you've helped a lot of people.                Best of Luck in the New Year, Bob V.      > From: robert_vetcher <robert_vetcher@ .co. uk> > Subject: Confused with test results > > Date: Tuesday, December 29, 2009, 8:36 PM > I have been on Androgel for nearly a > year now and my overall state of health has me > confused. My next to last blood test showed a serum > testosterone level of about 1150.  I wrote to > this forum earlier for advise on night sweats. One of > the comments that I received suggested that I not apply the > Androgel on the morning of the blood test as it might > distort the results. As my serum level seemed high > during the last test, I decided to take this advise. > Also my doctor advised me to decrease the Androgel usage > from 4 pumps to 2 pumps per day. I did not listen to > him and decreased my usage from 4 pumps to three, my > compromise.   > > My new blood test results were drastically different. > My serum level dropped to 216. I calculated my > own free and bioavailable numbers which came out to a > miserable 4.41 ng/dl- 2.04 percent and 106 ng/dL 48.9 > percent. My cholesterol and triglycerides went off the > charts and they put me on Crestor. My blood pressure > was also very high and they doubled me on on my BP > medication. > > Any ideas...? I was giving my doctor another chance > with resolving my issues before considering changing > physicians, which seems likely now. > >       Thanks to all of > you in advance!
