I agree with Joe. If you have had a negative , Western blot, Luat and PCR

for Lyme disease then I would have a spinal tap if I needed confirmation that

I had Lyme disease in order to have my insurance company pay for IV. The above

are not invasive.

There was a time in the recent past when these tests were not available and

spinal taps were done in an effort to " prove " Lyme disease was present or to

rule out some other disease. Even in the hands of a good clinician a spinal

tap has risks associated with it.
