Hi Helen ,

I read your post to Dabs abt Diamox & spects. I also had a spect at Columbia

( that could be a meeting place for all of us Lymies. Can you imagine how

many of us have layed on the same table? ),it was abnormal and my doc wanted

me to have another one with Diamox but I never did. Now I was listening to

the tape that you sent me ( Thank you very much BTW) and Mr. talked

abt taking Diamox either b4 or during ( I can't remember now) abx treatments

because he said that if you can't get evnough blood flow to the brain then

your antiobiotics are not gettin in and you might as well not take it . So

after hearing that , I am all ready to go ask my doc to give me diamox. I am

on IV doxy now, and have been herxing... was admitted to the hospitl a few

days ago for a fainting episode due to sever dizziness, and now after reading

your post abt the diamox making you so sick I am beginning to wonder if it is

a good idea. Hmmmm

Has anyone here ever been on Diamox? Either while on , or before abx

treatments? I love to know abt it if anyone here has been on it b4 I

mention it to my doc.

Thanks in advance. I hope you all are doing well . I have been lurking and

not writing much because I have been feeling so wiped out lately . Will be

back in full force hopefully after IV.

Hugs to Everyone,

Hi Daina

I have NMH so I am also prone to fainting without Diamox, but with the Diamox

it was different.

good luck to you

best,

I was on Diamox for several months during my IV treatment. It didn't

seem to do much for me except make be dehydrated [it's a diuretic], and

go to the bathroom constantly. Mr. Simons does say that it works

wonders for some people though, so it was worth a try.

What is the story with damox? What is it supposed to do? And, why do some

take it for a spect scan?

thank you in advance

Dear Lea: Diamox is a diuretic, which makes you expel urine

frequently. I think it opens up the blood vessels in your brain as well

so that the antibiotics can enter. As for the spect scan, I wasn't

given that for my spect scan, but I would assume it is to see whether

the diamox would improve the situation for you.

Hi ,

I'm so sorry that you wound up in the hospital! Was the dizziness due to

the IV Doxy causing a Herx? How are you doing now? Any improvement? I

think I remember reading that your daughter has Lyme also...how is she

doing?

You're right about how many of us have laid on that Spect Scan table! I

never thought of it that way! I hope for us all to meet one day,

too...but not at Columbia!

Feel better, Joan LI NY
