If it can carry disease in the spring it can still have it in the fall. What they may have been assuring you is that most ticks hybernate in the fall to spring. I would have any tick tested at BBI-Clinical Labs in CT for $35 each tick. Do this quickly so your mother may get help quickly if tick is carrying disease. Best wishes.
