Guest guest
Hi, are you Steve from NY I've been 'talking' to before? Oh, so you got your positive results then... Nice you have joined the group! Check some old messages here for tips where to buy herbs. Much easier to find them there in the US than here in Switzerland. I'm new on tinctures too, but started andrographis (biopure), still on low doses, can't tell yet if these work as well as Planet. Formula brand I was taking. It's a bit bitter, but when you can stand Pl.Formula on the tongue, it's no problem at all. I also started sarsaparilla tincture (done by myself) and expect to 'cook' Jap. knotweed soon too. I think Mathew Wood uses tinctures of teasel, on low doses, he said it works well for lyme too. I'll be 'cooking' mine soon and will tell you what happens! I would like to change andrographis (the main lyme killer I use) to something else as I feel andro worked wonderful but I've been too long on it. And somehow my last symptoms are sort of stuck (basically cold feeling when I'm on herbs, and arthritis when I'm off herbs), so would just like to try other 'lyme killers'. Hope you can stand the herbs. Just buy a bottle of each stuff to try, before you go to the bulk herbs, then you'll know if you can stand them. Best wishes and welcome again! Guest guest
Hey Steve! It's ..:-) I just read the book and saw on page 76 a synopsis of the core protocol: Andrographis paniculata; Japanese Knotweed (Resveratrol); Cat's Claw (Uncaria tomentosa). Then maybe Astragalus and Smilax, plus others based on your symptoms. He also lists doses and some brands. He has herbs listed by symptoms on page 209. In the individual sections where he talks in- depth about each herb he usually tries to recommend a brand or two I think. That's a good starting point...Hope this works for you, sounds very promising and seems to cover a lot of your symptoms!! It certainly helps that he is so familiar with the way Lyme spirochetes function, as well as with the properties and actions of the herbs. Good luck!! > > Hi, > > My name is Steve -.... so what is the basic protocol? if there is any.
Guest guest
Hi Steve, welcome to the group. Re where to buy, besides checking in the archives, where different people mention places they have found - on the LINKS section, Robynn has listed some companies that people have recommended. Also, msg#16 I listed where I got the herbs I used, Altho since then I believe people have found places that are cheaper. I know for one of the herbs, buhner recommends Rain-tree because they collect in an ethical manner. Also if you look back a little, there is a discussion of tincture vs capsule. One thing I found is that re andrographis- he recommends the capsule because the herb tastes so bad. I ordered the tablet by mistake, and quickly switched to capsule. He is right- it tastes vile!. good luck and good health to you, ellen ps - it can be confusing trying to find a good product that meets his specifications. Especially if one is somewhat low on focusing ability (like me). I made a nice table for myself, of where I got what, and then lost it! -- In , " jamerica007 " <xanax006@...> wrote: > > Hi, > > My name is Steve - I've been sick for perhaps 20 years and finally went to a lyme literate > doctor this year and tested positive IgM with Igenex. Guest guest
Ellen, thanks for the response. i started today buy buying resveratrol - but as i mentioned in a letter to Selma, i have pretty severe chemical sensitivities - and i think i had a bad reaction to some of the inert ingredients. either that or am just sensitive to the extract itself. i felt out of my mind - a bit deranged and depressed - after taking only 1/8th of a crushed pill. so source naturals may be off limits for me. i don't know why they add so many fillers. more than most supplements that i'm accustomed to. this reaction occurred within maybe 30 seconds. too soon to be a herx, i'd assume. especially at that low dose. i'll have to check the archives for other sources. do some of you take japanese knotweed - the herb itself, rather than the resveratrol derivitive? Guest guest
don't order here: I went looking for a capsule form of resveratrol, thought I might tolerate it better than the tablet. Found one at Gramercy Health Associates in New York City. Ordered it. Never arrived. I called, they promised, etc.etc. Conclusion: I haven't got the product or my money back.I have just sent letters to Better Business Bureau and NY Attorney General. [First time I've ever had a problem ordering these herbs.] ellen > > > > > > Hi, > > > > > > My name is Steve - I've been sick for perhaps 20 years and finally > > went to a lyme literate > > > doctor this year and tested positive IgM with Igenex. Guest guest
hi steve, i am also sensitive to fillers and binders in supplements, but i usually don't get immediate reaction as severe as you described. i've been muscle tested for all my supplements last fall and winter and was told to stay away from things like magnesium stearate, a very common filler. if you look in our archives, you'll see where i found to buy brands without fillers, including resveratrol (i can't use the nature's way either because of the mag stearate etc in it). it is generally a lot more expensive and always takes lot extra time to recheck the so-called " inactive " ingredients on every item. in general, i never use tablets because they have " binders " that are not needed in capsules. so caps or powders or tinctures are what i use. may you recognize all the support you need as your healing unfolds. kendra -----Original Message----- i think i had a bad reaction to some of the inert ingredients. either that or am just sensitive to the extract itself. i felt out of my mind - a bit deranged and depressed - after taking only 1/8th of a crushed pill. so source naturals may be off limits for me. i don't know why they add so many fillers. more than most supplements that i'm accustomed to. this reaction occurred within maybe 30 seconds. too soon to be a herx, i'd assume. especially at that low dose. i'll have to check the archives for other sources. do some of you take japanese knotweed - the herb itself, rather than the resveratrol derivitive? Guest guest
I have been taking the Plum Flower brand of Hu Zhang, CHINESE Knotweed. It has NO fillers or any adulteration to it. BUt for some reason they sent me Japanese Knotweed this time from 1st Chinese Herbs and it has CORN STARCH as a filler in it. I need to call and see WHY they sent me this this time. WHEN it is used up, I think I will go back to the Plum Flower Chinese Knotweed. It is 5:1 as is the Japanese Knotweed, but no fillers. The stuff with fillers is easier to encapsulate, much easier, but Buhner recommends NOT using any herbs that have been adulterated. Do you have a big bathtub, or sauna, or steam room, or hot tub? I bought a used hot tub on ebay, kept the temperature really high, and every day I got in it, shut the lid over my head, shoved a thermometer in my mouth, and drove my temperature up to at least 102 degrees. It made a big difference. I lost the hot tub in the ice storm last year, but I still do my best to drive my temperature up above 102 in my bathtub. It's a little harder, but it can be done. For herbs, I've been using japanese knotweed, sarsaparilla, and cat's claw for 2 1/2 years. And I started using stephania about 6 months ago. I've tried different combinations, and for me, this one is best. I get the cat's claw at mountainroseherbs.com. It's only $8/lb there, so very economical. I just noticed that have sarsaparilla for $10.25/lb, but I haven't tried theirs yet. I have also bought their red root (cut and sifted) and their boneset (cut and sifted). I use them for tea, and they have been very helpful. KT Botanicals has very good prices. And their sarsaparilla is very tasty. Add a couple grams to water, add some stevia for sweetness, and you have flat rootbeer. Very yummy and effective. Maxnature.com has very good prices and very fast service. I have used them for stephania, sarsaparilla and knotweed. If you do the heat therapy, be sure there is someone to help you. You can have a drop in blood pressure, causing you to faint and drown. And, depending on how sick you are, I imagine you could have other adverse effects. So until you know how your body responds, do not try it alone. And if you are very ill, discuss it with your doctor. Or simply start very slowly - like push your temp up to 99 the first time, and see how that works for you. Good luck. D.
