I finally came to the conclusion with this scenerio. Each body has a tolerance level to the toxins that are given off by the dying Bb's. This tolerance level is different from one body to the next body. It really is different with each toxin, or poison. A body can withstand the affects of the toxin that the dying Bb give off until that body's tolerance level is exceeded, at which time the person starts to herx. Hello : I hope your wife is feeling better today. I know how terrible this time is for you and your family. I would like to add a comment and a question to your explanation regarding herxing. In brief, I had been on and off various antibiotics from the beginning of 1995 until May of 1998. I would get better and then relapse within 6 months or so. In May of 1998, prior to beginning my last regime of antiobiotics, I went to an acupuncturist who did treatments to get my immune system working at its peak. When I started that regime of antiobiotics, it was the first time in 3 years that I did NOT experience a herx. I have also been totally symptomless now for 16 months. Would it be your rational that my immune system at that time was strong enough to tolerate the toxins from the dead bacteria where in the past it had not and if so why couldn't acupuncture help many of us ? I would be interested in your opinion of my rational. Mona
Guest guest
Mona, I was surprised to see that you have been symptomless for 16 months. I'm curious, do you have any permanent damage, like joints, neuro, or anything else due to the Lyme. Sorry if you have already posted information on this, either I missed it or its the Lyme Brain. - I agree with your reasoning about different tolerances, my doctor sort of explained that to me when I first herxed. He was surprised that I herxed so hard after only a few days of Zithromax (500 mg, I think once a day). Mona, makes sense what you said, since your immune system was bolstered it was able to handle the toxins better. This reminded me, I used to take OPC, which is similar to Pcynogenol an antioxidant that free your body of free radicals (or toxins), I stopped taking it due to the expense. I keep trying to figure out what I can afford to keep on my regiment, and what not. But I think I'm going to try that again. I faint if I even see a needle. I'm scared too death of acupuncture, even though I hear good things about it. Thanks Thanks Vicki Re: [ ] Why Herxing? >From: WISHXXX@... > >In a message dated 09/30/1999 2:58:28 PM Eastern Daylight Time, >geokate@... writes: > ><< I have tried to think through why it is necessary to stop taking the abx >when a person starts to herx. If you search you can find an acupuncturist who also uses laser beam or what I call a " punch " tool. You don't have to have needles.
