I live in Queens and am very interested. I had NO idea that there was a HBOT place in Great Neck. Funny cuz all of my docs are right in that area. Has it helped you? If so , how much better do you feel on a scale from 1-10?? And is it very expensive like everyone says it is? I hope I don;t sound too nosey, I'm just very interested. Thank you in advance for your response. diana
Guest guest
Dear Jane, HBOT is available from the Hyperbaric Services of America on Community Drive in Great Neck. My daughter and I have completed 22 treatments; 8 to go for this round. If you want anymore info just write. Eileen
Guest guest
Dear , , who owns/manages the IV therapy in Dr. Burrascano's office, started a company called Hyperbaric Services of America and he has 2 chambers in Dr. B's building, and 2 in the Lake Success Business Center on Community Drive (almost opposite North Shore Hospital). I'm still not finished my treatments, and it's too soon to tell how and if it has helped. I stayed at the Mc House for 1 week, but the other 2 weeks I've commuted back and forth from New Jersey, and that is very tiring. It is expensive; it's $125/treatment, and there are 30 treatments/set. It's recommended that one does 2 sets of 30, ~ 2 months apart. gave me a deal and he has done it for another parent and child; I got a reduced rate because my daughter and I go in together. He has a woman who works on getting the treatments covered by insurance, and we had a go at it if we just used my daughter's case (Oxford says I don't have LD), but her PCP refused to go along with it, the ignorant ass. He wouldn't call Oxford for the pre-authorization and wrote a half-hearted letter of medical necessity (basically said that I was requesting the therapy so he was writing the letter). The nurse who has taken care of us most of the time tells me that she has seen all but 1 Lymie report feeling lots more energy ~ 3 weeks after the last treatment. I don't think you were nosy, and I'm looking forward to meeting you at Gettysburg! I hope I remember right and you're going. Eileen
Guest guest
Regarding HBOT, I have a question. I have heard of people who mention that they have more energy and I have often wondered about how it affects other symptoms as well. What about the joints or lyme brain etc.? Guest guest
Eileen, My LLMD has recommended Hyperbaric too. But I checked in my local & driving area, and it was much more expensive then 's. But LLMD said he has never been successful in getting insurance to pay, since its considered " alternative " therapy. So let me know if you any luck. Your doctor that wrote that letter is worthless! The way he wrote it, he might as well have not written anything at all. But good luck. Even if it doesn't cure your Lyme, it still has beneficial effects on your health. I've seen a lot about it on Discovery and it really helps your immune system fight harder, so that is a good thing.
