Guest guest
Jim... Cayanne is used in herbal medicine for many purposes. The two I was mentioning are external( ointment) for pain control( decreases pain messages back to brain) and internally for taking other herbs deeper into the tissues. I am not recommending them as courses of action for anyone to take, just information to think about and perhaps talk with your natural health practitioner. Best wishes...Byron [Lyme-aid] Re: Use of Peppers...ROTFLMPO >From: JSchm47974@... > > Sharon, > I'm interested in the pepper thread as well, not sure of the use, just don't > " touch yourself " or put them where they don't belong! = Chili sauce may >be good for starters... Guest guest
Some time back in the last year or so, I read a paper published in a medical journal or soon to be published (reading the short form) and it dealt with the subject of the peppers stimulating the same areas of the brain that are accessed due to chronic pain. In fact, my pain mgmt. physician, had me to get Zostrix HP (high potency) for topical application for the muscle pain that I have all the time all over my body. I had noticed some time ago that if my hubby would rub a topical (compounded) medication on my body at the worst sites, that it chilled the nerve endings down enough for the oral medication I was given ( max two 4-6 hour pain tablets per day for over 8 years). I was hoping to get some of the same topical medication that needed a prescription and a compounding pharmacist but my pain mgmt. doctor would not let me have it. If you want to ask your doctor about it, it is called speed gel, as it is used as far as I know for people who have so much muscle pain with Fibromyalgia. It basically contains, Elavil, Guaifenisen (sp?) and Motrin, but I don't know what strength of any of these medications and they are crushed and put in an oily Lechitin base for ease of application. And, I'm sure some of the pharmacies that do compounding, could add something to make it smell better, like lemon, or something fresh like lemon. When it got to old to use, it was easy to tell from the smell. Oh well, my .02 cents worth on this subject. I did however find it interesting the correlation of the parts of the brain affected by pain and hot peppers as we all know they can cause us some pain indeed if we don't normally eat them. And, I be the first to warn you about Zostrix, it probably can work, not unlike the compounded stuff I asked my doctor for and didn't get. But, the big problem is that you have to apply it several times a day for it to work properly and it cannot be easily washed off, even the packaging warns to apply less than you think you'll need. A different alternative cream is Thera-Gesic and it was one that was recommended by a physical therapist for my grandmother. It worked great for me for many years and helped me to cope with the over all body pain and arthritis, but one day it just stopped working for me. I used it for many years though before it didn't work for me anymore. It's made by Mission Pharmaceutical out of San Texas and they have an 800 number you can get from 800 information 800-555-1212 if you can't find a store near you that sells it. They should be able to tell you where you can buy it, or possibly you could buy direct.
