Guest guest
Hi Di, I have heard of it...........just recently.........I went to two herbal healers...........and the put together a liquid of different herbs to help me rebuild my immune system, help with back pain, and an autoimmune disease. They told me the Japanese Teasel Root, was an antispasmodic (to help with my muscle spasms in my back) Good for arthritis, and pain too. Hope this helps, Connieknwnk Leave no stone unturned.......and ask questions!
Guest guest
Cheryll, I'd be interested in the protocol for teasel, and where to get it. The one mmemento I have from Lyme is a bad knee. BTW - for anyone having pain, esp joint or cartiledge, I find wonderful relief using SAM-e. It is somewhat expensive, but worth it. I use the brand Nature-Made, because that is the one recommended by a woman who wrote a book about SAM-e. ellen > Kendra and Cheryll > > It's wonderful to hear that others are thinking along these lines. Now the hard part is to motivate to get started. Maybe we should call our state extension service and first ask if Knotweed grows in our area and then perhaps suggest they read Buhner's book...maybe even get it for them if they are interested. First I need to see it growing in the wild so I know what it looks like. I wouldn't mind planting it in our yard. We have woods as natural boundaries between us and our neighbors ...so maybe that would help it from spreading. We also need to know how to use the different parts. I have powder I bought to fill capsules but not sure if it is taken from the bark or the roots (rhizomes?) Also I wouldn't know how to transplant it. I also have what looks like the dried knotweed bamboo like shoots that I am supposed to make a tea or tonic from. Haven't done that yet because I am still using the powder in the capsules. >
Guest guest
I tried the teasel tincture twice - first time with GSE for 2 weeks, second time without GSE for one week. Both times gave me terrible ab pain (one of my earliest Lyme symptoms) and messed up my GI tract. I had to stop and within a week, GI system returned to normal. I believe this was a herx caused by the teasel because I've tried a couple other Buhner herbs and they too caused this symptom. I consider it a GI herx but it is too difficult to continue the treatment because it is likely no nutrients were absorbing and the pain and frequent bathroom visits were too difficult. Bottom line - I think the teasel causes herxes. deb > > On the topic of teasel root, just received some I ordered from Woodland Herbs and to my surprise after only 2 days of it I'm experiencing the same symptoms as when I did the Buhner herb protocol a few years ago. Sure feels like a herx. > > I did have a half teaspoon of that Manuka honey with bee venom in it yesterday but that wouldn't cause all of this, would it? >
Guest guest
Thanks to all that responded about teasel root. I felt like I stepped back to that very scary place from 1 year ago when I first got sick- The scary place where you think you need to go to ER but remember they can't help you -which makes it even more scary. I stopped the teasel and still feeling symptons but its only been about 3 days so hopefully this to will pass. Any suggestions to help me work through this would be great. Guest guest
In Healing Lyme, Buhner talks about teasel and herx's. If I remember correctly, it was regional. He did not know if it was the herb or the species of lyme. You might want to review what he says in the book. jo > > On the topic of teasel root, just received some I ordered from Woodland Herbs and to my surprise after only 2 days of it I'm experiencing the same symptoms as when I did the Buhner herb protocol a few years ago. Guest guest
Do you have Buhner's book? On p. 58, he says practitioners in upper Midwest have found more Herx reactions from teasel than those in the NE, that it can cause a herx, and can also help alleviate arthritis pain, etc. Mixed bag, maybe it depends on co-infections & /or type of Bb? > > On the topic of teasel root, just received some I ordered from Woodland Herbs and to my surprise after only 2 days of it I'm experiencing the same symptoms as when I did the Buhner herb protocol a few years ago. Guest guest
Thanks. You're right. It is in the book. Hadn't gotten it out for a while and was using teasel after reading Wood. Guess I'll stick with it if it may be doing some good. Some herxes are unbearable and I don't blame people for stopping but so far this isn't that bad. - In , " " <xava.lynn@...> wrote: > > Do you have Buhner's book? Guest guest
There are different types of teasel so that could be a factor. Also, I can't recall if it is this group or another group but they are discussing teasel flower essence therapy which supposedly is different from the tincture. deb > > > > On the topic of teasel root, just received some I ordered from Woodland Herbs and to my surprise after only 2 days of it I'm experiencing the same symptoms as when I did the Buhner herb protocol a few years ago. Guest guest
Hi, I am a little late chiming in, but I figured I'd share anyway. I herxed big time on teasel. I use the drops from A chiro in Tennessee. The product is called Spironil. It is a very good product, but strong. The good news is you can slowly work up to a larger dose. Here are some things that help a herx: 1) drink a lot of fluids. It is often overlooked but really simple and important. Make sure that you do trace minerals and electrolytes as well. 2) Make sure you are getting enough salt in you diet as well. Adrenals are stressed during herxes. 3) Burbur from Nutrmedix is awesome for herxes. You can take it as often as every 10 minutes. 4) I like Apex acute rescue spray. It is great for any upset, herx, injury, emotional. 5) Benadryl in a pinch. It really does help. 6) epsom salt baths. I use 4 cups and add in 32 -64 ounces of peroxide. Use as warm water as you can tolerate. 7) Baking soda baths help to alkalize you. You system gets acidic during a herx. Use 6 cups(yes you read correctly). It is also good to counter radiation(from plane trips or medical procedures) 8) I do homeopathic drainage. I like Pekana hepat, itires, and renelex. They help to smooth out and download the die off. 9) Rest when you can. I know, not easy. Listen to tapes that calm you as well 10) Sauna if you can. It will take the load off of you liver and kidneys. 11) Cut back or stop for a few days if you have to. Sometimes it is not worth pushing through. A herx is not always a good sign. It can be a sign that your detox pathways are blocked and your system is backing up. Good luck and feel well. Peggy
