Ventura:I have a modest proposal for a new health plan that might solve many of the economic problems of providing health care.1) One reason that health care has become so expensive is that we have developed more expensive and effective diagnostic and therapeutic methods. If we did not permit these methods to be used, millions could be saved in health care.2) If all medical conditions were excluded from insurance policies, billions could be saved.3) This would solve the problem of any possible deficits in Medicare and Social Security and nursing home funding since no one would live long enough to be eligible.4) This would also allow everyone to purchase health insurance, and we could boast that we have joined the rest of the industrialized nations in providing universal health insurance. The drawback would be that the insurance would not pay for any medical care whatsoever, but we all have to make compromises.5) The advantage of #4 is that insurance company profits would not be diminished, so that politicians did not have to worry about where their campaign funding would come from.So. Governor Ventural, you can see that I have put much though into my modest proposal. If you would like to engage me as one of your head advisors, I am afraid I cannot help further due to my pesky little disability. Should I recover sufficient ability to ever work again, I think my first effort would be to move to Canada. Doing the math on the rate at which I am recovering, I think that global warming will provide Canada with a Caribbean-like climate by the time I am able to get outof bed. Ellen=================================================================And finally a big Thank YOU!.... Many of you have been suffering and/or working on getting answers to Lyme Disease for years and are wondering, " Will it ever end? or " Why are we having to do this all over again? " I know I have. But we go on one more month because children are falling ill, and people are suffering and yes dying. There have been many, many unsung heroes in Minnesota who have given their time, talents and other resources to try to stop this Silent Plague. Here are just a few that I have heard of. I am sure there are more and I would love to be able to thank them too. Even if it is you, please let us know what has already been done and what else needs to be done.
