Subject: Prednisone, Rocephin, etc.

Dear Jim,

My doctor follows Burrascano's protocols and while taking Rocephin I am

scheduled to

have 25 mgs. of corticosteroids added to the I. V. He says that when you are

taking

25 mgs. and under for no more than 4 weeks there is no big danger. While I had

to be

on a much larger dose of prednisone pills (45 mgs.) my blood tests showed that I

had

dropped to 0 lymphocytes in four days!! These are crucial in fighting infections

and this kind

of drop is attributed to prednisone. So.....get a CBC and see where your

lymphocytes are.

My lymphocytes came right back up after the 5 weeks and I had discontinued

prednisone.

Why was I taking that dose of prednisone for those 5 weeks? Because I have

lupus as

well but I am hoping that with continuing treatment for Lyme that this will

improve greatly,,

even though at this point I am not the worst case scenario for systemic Lupus.

I feel strongly that I will not be taking any large or extended doses of

prednisone during

my antibiotic treatments.......I need my lymphocytes.
