Guest guest
Dear Joan, I am sorry you are having trouble with your insurance company. In New York State there is a managed care advocacy project organized by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), and I think it is very important to register this incident with them. Their main purpose is to keep track of the problems with managed care in NYS and they have been able to work with the Attorney General's office in making him aware of managed care transgressions. It is very important that we keep a central registry of all the times we are denied treatment or are given other problems by managed care companies. This goes for all managd care complaints, not just Lyme patients. New York state residents should: 1) Go to http://www.naswnyc.org. 2) At the bottom of the page press one of the blue bars that says Managed Care Incident FOrm (very hard to read, but it is there) . 3) Either fill out the electronic complaint form on-line or print it out and mail it. 4) Your name will be kept confidential. SO THAT THE LYME COMMUNITY CAN GET A COPY OF YOUR FORM FROM THE NASW, PLEASE WRITE ON YOUR FORM: " I HEREBY GIVE PERMISSION FOR NASW TO GIVE A COPY OF MY FORM TO THE LYME DISEASE COALITION OF NY AND CONN, INC. " This organization will also keep your name confidential. Thanks, Ellen
