Guest guest
The following was a health item on KWTV 9 in OKC today. Oklahoma researchers discover new antibiotics Researchers say they have discovered a new family of antibiotic compounds that could fight bacteria responsible for diseases in humans. " We're excited that the possibility exists, but we're also still reserved, " said Dr. Benny Bruton of the U.S. Department of Agriculture research laboratory in southeastern Oklahoma. The compounds were discovered during a study for ways to control diseases found in muskmelon and watermelon plants. Doctor Marissa MiIler of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease says it's a significant finding. She says scientists believed they had already found most of what is out there in the way of antibiotics.
