Permit me to address this (I, the original inadequate mother) - there

was a book out or a newspaper column that went into a book - about

Good Enough Moms - that we don't always have to be Good Moms

(certainly not Great Moms) but that when all is said and done, we are

Good Enough Moms and that's all that counts.

Before I knew I had Lyme disease (it has been over 10 years, just

diagnosed less than 1 year ago) my husband was forced to take a job

travelling 60-80% of the time due to companies consolidating, he is

now one of the few from the one original company.

I remember having 4 small ones, ages 6 and under, plus an extra child

or two for various reasons. One time I cried, told them they were

all sick, and put them all in bed with me for the whole day. We ate

crackers and peanut butter and drank cold water. We took turns

getting up for it and shaking out the sheets (crumbs).

Sometimes I would be so tired my oldest daughter would fix us all
